Tools greyed out in toolbar

Hi, using the latest version of Audition in the latest Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4.

I used Audition fine yesterday, but today the toolbar is greyed out from the waveform/multitrack options, past the arrows, razor etc, to the brush and marquee selection tool.

I can get them back again if I switch default workspaces from the arrows to the right of the screen, but as soon as I edit a single track (by double clicking the track in multitrack mode) and go back, the tools have disappeared again, and I have to do a temporary Default/preset workspace switch to get them back.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Can you provide a screen-grab of this, please?

I'm having this problem as well: the tools (as well as even the "Waveform" and "Multitrack" buttons!) are greyed out in multitrack view.

The only way I can un-grey them is to double-click on a clip to go to Waveform edit. At that point, the Waveform and Multitrack buttons un-grey and I can click back to multitrack, at which point the tools then appear.

This seems like a bug, though. A user shouldn't have to click through other views and go back to an original view to use basic functionality. Or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Not seeing this on anything except Macs, so it could be platform-specific - and no, you shouldn't have both Multitrack and Waveform view greyed out together. It is possible that Audition's preferences folder has been corrupted somehow. If you have nothing special saved as far as Audition is concerned it's easy to reset this to the factory default 'vanilla' condition, simply by restarting Audition with the shift key held down - then it will look like a fresh installation. If it still does this after that, we'll call it a bug...

Thanks for your reply. I did exactly what you suggested, and I got the same results.

Is there a way we can report this bug?

I teach Audition in a university, and it would be great if students didn't have to work around this weird and confusing issue. Thanks for your help!
