Assign automatically track name from file name

When creating an new multi track session, the tracks are labelled "track 1", "track2 ", aso... We have to change these name for good organisation and visibility. Track by track. When you have 35 tracks or more...
It would be a great time saver to give the possibility to automatically name the tracks by the name of the originating file. Up to the user to eventually rename the tracks before importing, but many are often already well labelled.

I've seen this request before for when new tracks are generated with a file, but can I clarify that you're asking for a feature that would rename existing tracks with existing content based on the filename of the first clip added to the track? Would filenames be more useful than metadata, especially for large SFX libraries which may have less descriptive filenames?

To our great regret this seems impossible. None of the Adobe team gave us the answer, it's a shame.

Hi, Thanks for your response.
I just would an (optional) automatic rename of the tracks with the name (or a part of the name) of the corresponding files.
See joined file: I have as many (31) files (and then tracks) as mics that were used to record the song . Files are named by the name of the corresponding mic.
For example file 01_KickMic1.wav is located on Track1 (Piste 1 in french), and so on for the 31 files/mics/tracks.
Then, each time I mix such a music, I have to rename all the tracks with the name of the file/mic to see what I'm doing.
Hope it helps. Regards.

I am also looking for this kind of functionality for recording in multitrack.

I was thinking of some optional simple code to type into the track, or to save as the track name in a template. Instead of "track 1" it could be as "<> track 1" or "<> Susan's voice track."

Or a setting in Properties such as "use filename as track name prefixes," similar to the prefixes option for exporting marker selections.

Thanks for your attention.

I think given the fact that currently there is a great demand for large datasets. Tools like audition are no longer creative tools for audio engineering, but also heavily used for research. In music production is less common to have hundreds of audio tracks that have been clearly identified sequentially. However in audio research is not un common to work with several hundreds of individual audio files that vary only a little between them and as such having a way to script naming and identification will go a long way.
