The development model for pretty much all Adobe software is based very firmly on one thing - what the large corporate users (think seats into 6-7 figutres, and there are several of them) are prepared to pay for in terms of extending the feature sets of the products they purchase. I'm sure that MIDI has been put to them on several occasions, and we can all see what the result has been.

There could be several reasons for this. But unless you can find a mechanism for persuading these people to pay for developing any new feature at all - not just MIDI - it really is very unlikely to happen, as the developers like to get a salary at the end of the month!

I would re-subscribe to the Adobe Creative Suite if I found out Audition added VSTi/MIDI functionality back in and I know tons of people who would do the same. I love the Audition UI, the workflow, the power of the tool, but I literally have no use for it if I can't supplement sound editing with instruments or background sounds from time to time. So, until then, Ableton Live gets my money.

I'm going to post this on reddit and encourage upvoting, I know there are tons of people wanting this but most don't know this thread exists.

I'm eagerly awaiting a true MIDI editor with support for VST instruments. This is so desperately needed. Please, Adobe.

It's 2025.  Time to ask Audition to get with the program.  One day, maybe. One day.

PLEASE! midi and VST-Instruments
They were not an issue/missing in the early days of Audition... Why do we still/now lack this important feature?!?
Even if you are not a composer these tools are so essential for sound design and certain virtual foley effects for film/video/tv post production. - Urgently needed.

Guys, hold your breath... Adobe Audition actually had MIDI and VST support back in the days. I actually enjoyed composing little songs in it. It had some quirks but it really wasn't that bad, some things i even liked better than in other DAWs.  All they needed to do was to fix some minor but stupidly enraging things (like make selecting notes and selecting time range two separate things) and to introduce midi clips (there were only midi tracks) and i would never switched to other DAW.

I'm actually ticked off about this and I am having to buy FL studio ! They obviously are lacking half of their development brains. Shame on Adobe !

And even more amazing would be that Adobe would pick marketing shares and we ”adobe cloud users” could stay in adobe world, maybe some clever copy paste between ae/premiere/audition and well be happy.

There would be a ton of benefit from MIDI for two specific purposes.

First is for instrument input (ie notes, mod wheel, pitch bend, etc.)

Second is for controlling the Audition interface. Look at Logic's Controller Assignments and Smart Controls tools, or Cubase's Generic Remote and VST Quick Controls tools for examples. These make it really simple to link a MIDI CC command to a parameter in the DAW. It would be amazing to expose the Essential Sound panel controls to MIDI CC control via a MIDI learn tool.

I was a little confused at first, because I thought MIDI is Standard in EVERY DAW. Without MIDI ... is Audition a DAW at all or what is here the story behind that? Also There are Hardware controllers like PaletteGear aka Monogram, Loupedeck, Loupedeck CT and other Tools that communicate over the MIDI over USB with the computer. But without that MIDI Support its very frustrating. The question should be WHEN will that basic MIDI Support will be in Adobe Audition?
