Copying and Pasting Clips In an Adobe Audition FIle

Hello-I am trying to take clips from various files, and paste them into a new file so I can make a demo reel. I have tried control c to copy, then control v to paste, but it isn't working. Thanks for the help!

Not sure how you are doing it but the way I would do it would be to create a multitrack session and place all your files on different tracks then either split the sections you want and drag to a new track or select the sections and alt drag the clip to a new track.
The result will be a track containing the clips/audio sections that you want which you can xfade or whatever.

When finished mute the other tracks and export the multitrack to create a mix of your desired demo reel
