Please update or install Bridge Beta via the Creative Cloud Desktop app.
Steps to install/update
Install: Go to the Creative Cloud desktop app and select Beta apps in the left sidebar of the Apps panel. Then select install for your beta app.

Tried that; no joy. However! Reinstalled version 13.0.1 and did not keep anything of the most recent version and said no to all other requests and it is now working as it was. Be careful not to update if asked, as this will overwrite
13.0.1 and you will be back in the same position.

Have reset preferences and image cache. No avail
Have uninstalled and reinstalled. Still No avail.

@alan many thanks for quick response..
Should have said I am using the Creative Cloud Desktop. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling but don't think I have the option to revert to an older version.

Of course I can install an earlier version. Done it and everything now working.

For some reason recent update3s are just full of bugs. Really would like to hear ffrom adobe. We pay and rely on this software.

I had the same error. Shocking that this happens. I removed 13.02, kept settings, installed 13.01 and that works again.
