Bridge is not showing thumbnails for image files on Sony A7R5 connected to a Windows 10 PC via USB

Bridge is not showing thumbnails for image files on Sony A7R5 connected to a WIndows PC running Win10 via USB. Can anyone tell please me how to configure Bridge to show previews for files stored on a memory card in this camera, or how to resolve this issue otherwise?

Bridge does show thumbnails for image files stored on drive(s) internal to the PC in question. Other programs including Windows Explorer and Photos are able to show previews and open files from the memory card in the camera on this same PC and camera at roughly the same time as the attemps using Bridge, so we know that the camera is connected, and the connection is working.

I have tried the solutions suggested in the following thread (as well as restarting Bridge, and the connection to the camera, several times), with no change to the results:

Here is what the display looks like when I attempt to view the content of the memory card in the connected camera.  I realize that the lock means that the card is read-only - that much is OK, I don't plan to make any changes  to the images on the memory inn the camera. What I'm trying to get working is thumbnails & previews.

Bridge will not create thumbnails for images on memory cards, AFAIK. Copy those files to your hard drive.

Ah, thank you for the information, I didn't know that (esp given that other tools can & do). Probably longer term Bridge users know about that and just import everything and then cull... This makes it less than ideal if & when _selective_ import is desired though, no?  I guess I will need to use a different tool if/when I don't want to import all images before doing any selection / culling.

Rather surprising & a bit disappointing imho, but really good to know - thanks!

To be clear, I'm refering to performing selective import from a memory card to a computer drive, rather than when importing into Lightroom catalog. Sometimes I don't want to (or it may not be practical to) upload or work with all of the files on a memory card at a time.
