Hi yall,
just got it confirmed by Adobe's official channel on Twitter that previewing images with the .heic format is not supported by Adobe Bridge at the moment. This is news to me and this is a request for any Adobe official to please register this as a feature request since it breaks an important way of using Adobe Bridge.
If an image with the .heic extension is stored locally and previewed it works.
If an image with the .heic extension is stored on Onedrive and previewed it does not work (see attached image).

Let me know if more info about this is needed.

Using cloud services with Bridge is not supported and does not work correctly for all use cases. Work with local folders only.

Hi Lumigraphics, I am aware of this, hence the reference to the tweet from Adobe.
What I am looking for is not an reiteration that this does not work but instead someone to take this as a feature request, hence tagging the post as "feature request".

This goes way beyond a feature request for HEIC support. Adobe seems to have zero interest in supporting cloud services or even the generic share features in Windows or macOS.

It does not "go beyond" anything since you are only stating your own thoughts.

Working with cloud services is not supported and may not work correctly. That simple.

And that's why I posted a request for a feature to be added. That simple.

Would be nice to get an official answer from a Adobe rep please?

I wouldn't hold your breath. There is zero indication that Adobe is going to integrate third-party cloud services, especially considering how many there are (DropBox, OneDrive, iCloud, Google Drive, Box, and plenty more.)

I agree ... it should be supported on all local folders, even if it's a folder that is backed up to the cloud like OneDrive, the file is still a local file.

I mean, really, Windows Explorer can do it lol

"If an image with the .heic extension is stored locally and previewed it works." - Not for me. And for two weeks Adobe has been unable to provide any effective support.

I don't believe that all HEIC files are supported. Do you have the Microsoft extensions installed? Does Windows 11 have native support? I'm a Mac user so its all good here.

Today I updated Bridge (2024) and it doesn't show thumbnails for heic files generated with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. This is ridiculous Adobe, we pay for our software and it doesn't work!!
I can see thumbnails on File Explorer (Windows 11), both for photos and videos (MOV in this case).

Adobe promises (2024-03-21):
We have checked and found that the feature to preview the HEIC files is not supported in the Bridge application at the moment. Please wait for the launch of version 14.1 as it will be included in Bridge version 14.1.

Hmm, my Bridge version is 14.1.2.300

One more thing: there's no thumbnails or previews of videos too (MOV extension, but the same HEVC codec from iPhone).
