Move to Bin

what does "Move to Bin" mean in Bridge 2023?  Is it the same as "Move to Trash" meant in Bridge 2022 & previous?

I would say so. I get "Move to recycle bin" when I delete a file.

And you're using Bridge 2023?  Interesting, mine doesn't have the word "recycle" in it.

I have the beta version, so maybe that's the difference. I also have an older version, so when the beta acts up, I can use the older version.

On my Mac, it's "Move to Bin."
On my Win, it's "Delete."

I see the same word: bin. Thank you English language programmers. While you did have the language first, it used to be termed differently in versions 2022 and earlier. Is this an effort to use more human-sensitive language?

I sure hope so, I was wondering why, after all this time you would change a word from trash to bin without any explanation and it also used to have how many files/images you were about to delete. That is gone as well. Fingers crossed, I am not deleting more than I thought I was!!! Sometimes changes are so aggravating and totally unnecessary!

This is confusing because "Bin" means something completely different in Premiere Pro. When I first saw it I thought ir was some virtual folder. It's amazing how these unecessary and unexplained changes waste so much of our time.

Some imbecile needed to feel important and include a change just so they could say they did something. A waste of time for everybody, programmers included.

Adobe needs to change this back to Move to Trash. 

It was an unnecessary change but some junior bozo needed to be able to say they did something I guess.

It used to be (forever in the past and stil for PS) that the red button essentially minimized Bridge except when it crashed it. 

Not fixed yet and I doubt it will ever be fixed.

Perhaps the programmer responsible for the change is from UK. Here we have bins, wastebins, dustbins, recycling bins, rubbish bins, litter bins, green bins, dog waste bins and probably others I have failed to recall too. We don't have trash though!!

Yeah, they renamed it to "Bin" even though in American culture, people look at you funny when you say that versus "Trash".

The phrase "Move to Trash" has meant something very specific in macOS for a very long time. Also the word "bin" refers to something very different in Premier. The fact that "move to bin" was ever used by a programmer working on the new code for Bridge is very concerning. It tells me that the team working on Bridge isn't very familiar with macOS, and that there isn't anyone overseeing the development of the Creative Cloud suite of apps as a whole. I do understand that Apple introduced a translation of 'trash' to 'bin' in the UK language option of macOS Catalina. I also appears that the entire team working on Bridge is in India, which shouldn't be a problem in it self because if there are any senior programmers on their team familiar with macOS; they should understand that "Move to Trash" has always meant something very specific, and getting it right is very important when it come to DAM software.
I get the feeling that during senior executive presentation meetings at Adobe headquarters, they have to add a description in the slide deck for what Bridge actually is.

And if you hit the Delete key (mac), it asks if you want to send it to the Bin. And if you say yes, it asks you to confirm you want to Delete it... Quite the circle to take to remove a garbage image.

Curious @SEEverist I normally just click the Trash/Bin icon in the upper right corner to delete and haven't tapped the Delete key in ages. I just tested that and yes, you do get a warning asking you to verify that you want to Delete or Reject that file. There is also a "Do not show Again" option in that window. However, I did not get a 2nd window to confirm the deletion. I wonder why you got two and I got one (that can be set to not show again)? Does the 2nd window also offer to not show again? I'd suggest you check those boxes.

@gary_sc I get the Reject or Delete that you've shown. And then, when I select Delete, there's a Delete File confirmation. I'm guessing you already had the Don't Show Again checked on that, so you don't see it. Doing a little more experimenting, if I hit Command-Delete, it skips the Delete/Reject option and goes to the Delete confirmation. I've never paid attention to the icon in the upper right. Usually keep my cursor in the images and use my other hand on the keyboard for spacebar/preview and other functions. Usually working in Light Table mode. But yes - checking those boxes gets rid of the confirmations.

I saw that too, and I almost lost files because a "bin" in Adobe Premiere is a folder. I thought I was moving the files to a new folder without realize it was specifically the Trash folder.

I can't believe how much small things like this drive me crazy. Maybe it says more about me, but I'm so bothered when Adobe changes things for no reason. No reason. In American English, you put things in a bin until you have time to sort through them later. Which is exactly how that word is used in Premiere. In the Bridge context, the word should be TRASH. Please change it back, Adobe. 

P.S. When on vacation, I enjoy watching football in my apartment while eating chips and cookies in my pants.
