P: BFD- Annoying Black Friday Popup Ad in Photoshop - How to stop?

For the last week or two Adobe has been popping up ads to "upgrade my plan" in Photoshop. (Seriously guys? I already pay for this software, there are cheaper and/or free alternatives coming out every day, and you're spamming us to suck more money? You think this is a good idea?) There is a "stop for seven days" check box (hidden, that you have to scroll down to see), but no option for "[removed by moderator]" How do I stop these? Or, rather, I should say, is there a way to stop these other than dumping my Adobe subscription altogether, which is what it seems Adobe is trying to get me to do?

This is a dark pattern because it limits control by lacking a permanent dismissal option, hides the temporary stop checkbox, and aggressively targets paying customers with ads, undermining their user experience.

@Haler30508253ovcg can you please take a picture of this pop-up window?

I am guessing here, that maybe you downloaded the trial version of Photoshop? And now it's asking you to buy the paid version? Or is it something else, because I am not sure what offer it's asking?

Hello,

I get this bug where each time I launch photoshop I get a nag screen which can not be closed permanently. It only says "Don't show again for 7 days".

Please fix this BUG asap. It should work: "Don't show EVER again".

Also please fix another BUG: the screen displays in the first place. It should NEVER be even displayed at all. This happens on newest version of Photoshop on Windows 11.

Thanks.

What make sthis even more annoying is that the "don't show for 7 days" checkbox doesn't function. Even after repeatedly checking this box, the ad still pops up every time I open Photoshop. Please make this go away or risk losing paying customers!

I'm on my first month subscription and this endless black friday spam IN THE APP is already driving me to not wanna continue the subscription. The settings in creative cloud do nothing to disable this, and the "don't show for 7 days" prompt maybe works for 24 hours, but definitely not seven days.

When I open Photoshop, I'm opening it to *do work* not to get advertised at. This is the kind of thing that drives people to piracy.

Doesn't do anything. I already have this disabled and I still get the popups again after a day or two.

Ditto here; I have all that unchecked and have since well before the spamming started. Hi Adobe, this tactic will cost you more money than it will gain you. Those of us who have to use PS will continue to do so while hating you for this, and anyone who doesn't need PS and is on the fence just jumped. I have to imagine the pirates don't get these messages.

Did anyone find a solution to this? I've just spent an hour trying to find one, and still no luck. This is nothing more than unsolicited spam and I hate it.

No matter what I do I cannot get rid of this unsolicited spam and it is really annoying me. Every day I open up Photoshop (beta), their Black Friday advert pops up.

It's reaching the stage where I won't re-subscribe to them and find an alternative.

Not only does Adobe not allow us to tell it not to come back, but the "don't show for seven days" button is fraudulent: I just clicked it this morning, and less than an hour later the popup was back.

This will be my last year of Adobe subscription. The Affinity platform applications are every bit as good, in many cases better (as a photographer, Adobe's RAW conversion engine has been notoriously bad at color conversion and saturation for years, and it shows), and it is a one-time purchase, far less expensive than Adobe, the company continually upgrades and updates it, and they don't spam you.

Goodbye, Adobe.

This [removed by moderator] pop up doesn't make me want to upgrade, it makes me want to cancel! So fed up with having it showing its ugly face every time I open my laptop, whether or not I tick the box makes no difference whatsoever. What are you guys thinking??? The more you put it in front of our faces, the more we're likely to upgrade just to get rid of it?

These ads are making me seriously consider leaving Adobe for anything else. Most people don't seem to care about ads (Netflix with ads really took off), but I can't stand them. It's just going to keep getting worse and blocking workflows. Don't encourage them by clicking on the the upgrade or view plans buttons.

Suddenly I am bombed with offers from Adobe. In my mail box and whenever I open PS I get splashscreens of black friday again and again. I am not going to change my plan. I click "Do not show for 7 days" - within a few hours the splashscreen is back and not even with an easy way to shut it down. You have to find the little X in upper left corner. After again clicking "Do not show for 7 days"

Now I have a blue button in upper right corner of my PS-frame. "Upgrade your plan" it says and is oh-so tempting to click at. But I am not going to upgrade. I have exactly the plan, I need, thank you so much. If I am to do something it will be to leave Adobe once and for all. Beside the blue button there's an icon of a gift. I don't know what to do with that either.

Let me explain why I am taking out time in a busy day to write this. When I am in Photoshop I am playing, experimenting, creating. Focused. I shut off music and don't answer the phoine. Because I am in a proces and want my screen to be as quiet and clutterfree as possible. It's hard enough to avoid all distractions from mail, SMS and SOME. I don't need Adobe to keep on distracting me - I need PS to give me sanity, to be in the flow of creating.

So my question here is - how do I get rid of all these intrusions into my sacred space - do I really have to find another platform - and if yes - which?

Thank you for reading so far.

Hey SBrogaard,

We're sorry for the trouble with Photoshop's Black Friday pop-up issue. We're already aware of the issue, and the team is investigating it. I'll merge this thread with the existing parent thread.

{Moderator note: Edited the thread title}

Thanks,

Shivani

Something tells me the team is "investigating it" by doing literally nothing and they'll "fix it" when the Black Friday deals are done.
