Camera Raw 13.1 crash

New Here ,
Dec 13, 2020 Dec 13, 2020

Newly updated Camera Raw 13.1 crashes and freezes the whole Mac laptop when trying to open any raw files in Photoshop. Tried it a few times after restarting. Every time the freeze happens, I can only restart my Mac by force, can't quit Photoshop or force quit. Please fix asap or revert back to the old version, it's affecting project deadlines severely! Not a good start to a super busy week before Xmas.

Try trashing your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings.

(Mac OS only) Open the Preferences folder in the Library folder, and drag the Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.

This action only affects the items found in the preferences dialog box. Numerous program settings are stored in the Adobe Photoshop Preferences file, including general display options, file-saving options, performance options, cursor options, transparency options, type options, and options for plug‑ins and scratch disks. Brushes (and lots of other setting) are not affected by the above instructions for deleting preferences. You may wish to make a screen capture of the settings in the Preferences dialog to reset them prior to deleting of this file.

I am having the same problem as the previous user.  When I try to use the newest CameraRAW, my computer (MacPro desktop) freezes and the only way to recover is to manually turn it off and then reboot.  I did trash the Photoshop preferences as suggested to no avail.  Other than the problems with RAW, Photoshop seems to be working fine.

I'm having the same issue as everyone else with Camera Raw 13.1. I tried the preferences fix above, as mentioned by @TheDigitalDog, but it didn't fix the issue.

I think I'll go ahead and switch back to Camera Raw 12.4 and wait until Adobe has a patch for the newest version of Camera Raw.

https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html#HowtoinstallCameraRawplugin

It working fine for me now.

One other issue I ran into was that the new upgrade to Mac Big Sur 11.1 wiped out my printer drivers adn I now have to reinstall.

Same problem for me. The first Adobe person couldn't figure out how to reinstall the prior version as I watched in screen sharing. That ended up creating another problem as they disabled PS to attached Raw and jpg files as they are both "grayed out". This was yesterday n morning. Was supposed to get a call at 8 am from a Tier 2 person. No call. I called in at 10 am was told my case would be expedited this s afternoon. 4 pm now no call. Paying customers are not happy along with me. Quite honestly I haven't had any reason to contact Adobe for help in years...

PS: Mac Mojave current version 10.14.6 PS version 22.1.0

Thank you. Actually Adobe finally called back and s did the same as you
did. Only took minutes THANK YOU for messaging me with the suggestion.

PS: I don't knot know why the person I talked to Monday morning at Adobe
could not figure out how to do this.

I have just tried to reinstall Camera Raw 12.4, it seems working when I open Photoshop, but when I use lightroom, it still appears: Camera Raw 13.1, How to solve such a problem? Thanks for your attention.

The temporary fix is to turn off Hardware Acceleration for CameraRAW in the Photoshop settings.  It'll run really slow, but at least it wont' crash or freeze.
