P: Lens Profile requests and information

Lens Profiles apply to Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic, and the Lightroom Ecosystem products (Desktop, Mobile, and Web).

Lens Profiles are available for a wide array of lenses. Not every lens is currently profiled, and of those profiled, not all are profiled for all camera and file types. For example, there may be a profile for a particular lens and camera mount for the raw file but not for the JPEG. Normally, profiles for JPEG are not supplied unless the camera does not apply a correction (e.g. iPhone, GoPro).

A complete list of profiled lenses can be found here: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/supported-lenses.html
other helpful info: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support.html#Supported_lenses

Lens correction for all Micro 4/3 (MFT) lenses and many newer cameras, including Panasonic and Olympus cameras, and other cameras (including Fuji X,  Leica Q, and Nikon Z series)plus many point-and-shoot models from Canon) happens automatically without any interaction by the customer. A notation will appear in the Lens Correction Panel designating this.

Note: You should not expect to find any profiles listed in the pop-up notes, because the corrections are always applied.

If you are unsure whether your lens is supported automatically refer to the "info" button/icon on the Lens Corrections tab.

If your lens is not on the supported lens list and is not one of those whose correction happens automatically, you can create your own profiles using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator. Download the Adobe Lens Profile Creator: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/digital-negative.html#resources

If you desire an Adobe-created Lens Profile, please make your request in the comments of this thread. Be sure to include the full lens model/description and the camera mount you desire. ETAs for new lens profiles are not available.

Keep in mind that lens profiles cannot be made for tilt/shift lenses, and the tilt or shift settings cannot be recorded in the Exif data. A feature request exists here for Tilt-Shift Lens Profiles: https://community.adobe.com/t5/camera-raw-ideas/p-lens-profiles-for-tilt-shift-lens/idi-p/12221166

Note: The Lens Profile Creator is currently supported for Windows and 32-bit Versions of the Mac OS.

ETAs are not available for any lens request.

We have begun the process of profiling lenses for the Sony Alpha system. For example, in Camera Raw 8.3 / Lightroom 5.3 we provided new lens profiles for three major zoom lenses:

Sony 16-35mm F2.8 ZA SSM
Sony 24-70mm F2.8 ZA SSM
Sony 70-200mm F2.8 G SSM II

You can expect more in the future.

I'm wondering why there is still no lens profile in Lightroom for AF-S NIKKOR 120–300 mm 1:2,8E FL ED SR VR - Nikon. It is now over a year since this lens was introduced and I'm missing it. Is Adobe disinterested?

What he said. Please give us a profile for the 120-300mm Nikon.

I have the Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 FE (for Sony) lens.
However, Lightroom Classic does not automatically select the lens profile.

I'm a beginner, so it's hard to set the value manually, so I want to update Samyang's lens profile in the Lightroom Classic soon.

Hello,
are there actually profiles for Lighroom of the two Canon RF lenses 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM and 50MM F1.8 STM, or when will they be added to LRC?

The lens profile for the RF 35mm is already available in LrC, and I believe the RF 50mm profile is also there. If you are not seeing them, can you confirm the version number of Lightroom that you're using, and can you also confirm you have a raw file selected (the vast majority of lens profiles are only available for raw files).

Hello,
Yes, the RF 35mm is available, but it is not automatically selected in the lens correction as with my other lenses. The RF 50mm 1.2 is selected automatically.
I can't find the 50mm 1.8 STM in the list.
I use RAW files with LRC version 10.3.

Hi!

I have the latest version of Lightroom and I do all of my shooting with Gopro Hero 8 Black. In the Lens Correction section I only find settings for Gopro Hero 7 Black. And im not really satisfied with the outcome using that. Can I download settings for the Hero 8 somewhere or will it be the same as Hero 7?

Most of my footage is with RAW and I do timelapses, so yes the Hero 7 straightens the horison but everything else in the corners get a weird distortion. Any help to this much appriciated!

Not the best example maybe, but look at the bench in the picture I attached

Best regards

I have been inquiring about the same matter since the launch of Hero 8. I guess they have no plan to add the lens correction for this device. What a deal breaker. Really love using this app with Hero 7 Black. However, I guess I'm gonna delete it and start using something else now. Your loss, Lightroom!!!

Still no support for the Hero 8 a year later. Only goes up to Hero 7. GoPro is now advertising Hero 10. It appears Adobe has dropped support for GoPro for some reason. This is disappointing.

Yesterday I bought the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art for Sony-E, but I saw There was no profile available in Raw 12.1. Instead it takes the profile of the Sigma 24-70mm DG OS HSM A017. Does anybody know when the correct profile wil be recognised by Raw?

Hi there,

Sorry that the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN lens profile is not getting recognized in Camera Raw 12.1 version.

I do not see this Lens supported by Camera Raw yet. You may also check the same here: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/camera-raw/kb/supported-lenses.html

Would you mind checking out this article https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support.html and let us know if that helps?

Thanks,

Akash

More than two years on from the OP.....I have the L-Mount version of this lens.

There are currently three lens profile versions available in Lightroom and Camera Raw (v14.5) : Sigma L, Sony and Sony V2.

Sigma L corrects for vignetting but makes no optical corrections (as suggested in Adobe's current list of supported lenses). Sony partially corrects optical distortion, but not vignetting, Sony V2 partially corrects optical distortion and most vignetting.

Photolab 4 (DXO) does an near perfect job of correcting both optical distortion and vignetting automatically.

I would rather not have to open raw files in Photolab and export to Lightroom. Could Adobe be persuaded to re-examine the profile for this lens?

Hi Adobe,

It's more than a year ago, Nikon presented the new Z camera's plus some lenses.

I had the new camera and lenses at the Photokina in Cologne at 29-09-2018 in my hands for the first time!!

I bought my Z7 about 7.5 months ago...

And still there is no profile for its standard Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S lens! Shame on Adobe

There are already 6 different Z lenses available at this moment.

The also new but less sold Canon RF lenses do already have their profiles, shame on Adobe!

When do we become "our" lens profiles??

Or is it better for Nikon photographers to ditch Adobe?

Best regards from the Netherlands, Europe.

Files from the Nikon Z cameras have lens corrections built-in, and the profile is applied automatically in Camera Raw.

Thank you for your answer, Per Berntsen.

Adobe, sorry for my quite negative topic text...

Shame on me...

I haven't seen that "i" remark in the right bottem of the screen at all...

Shame on me... to busy with the rest of Camera Raw and Photo Shop...

Only when I use my Techart TZE-01 adapter with a little Sony lens the built-in distortion correction isn't working good.

But it does when I set the right Sony lens correction.

Hello. We are working on a profile for the Samyang 35mm AF for Sony FE mount, though I cannot specify exactly when this will be available.

The Canon Powershot G7X has built-in lens corrections that are already applied to raw images. There is no need for an external lens profile.

Regards,

- Chris
