Is it Samsung or is it Adobe? This effect is not visible in the embedded preview. Also not a new issue, happend with S23U and S22U.

Edit: Samung messed up even more. The ProMode classic RAW is completely broken, there is nothing there in the highlights and shadows to recover (it's on the same level as the jpg), while a 3rd party app can create a RAW file where it's possible (even Adobes De-Noise works on 3rd party dng files).
Thank you for the sample file. We've forwarded this to the manufacturer for disposition.
Expert Raw version 3.0.04.4 fixed this. You will still get mushed details in extreme dark areas, but the obvious color banding is gone. Turning off "adaptive pixel" helps to reduce artifacts further.
I hope they will also fix their ProMode raw soon.

There is definitely no getting through to them as a regular costumer:
"Oh have you read our fancy guide on how to use the app, you must be doing something wrong"
"Sure you don't want to reset your phone another time?"
"If you feel something is wrong maybe you should check for updates"
"You have to set it to save dng files"
"ExpertRAW is different then normal raw"
Yea well if the preview is free from artifacts but your so called raw data is not, it's broken.
And one point complaining about ExpertRAW they actually recommend I should try ExpertRAW.
This is so damn exhausting.

Any response yet? I found another even more serious issue, not with ExpertRAW but the classic RAW Samsung offers in Pro Mode, apparently this one is broken too, because there is absolut zero shadow and highlight recovery, while a third party app can provide that.
I think this could be another issue where people would think, Adobe is not comatible, but it's Samsung doing it wrong.

It's not even hard to recreate, any lowlight ExpetRAW dng will do.

The actual so called "raw data":
No I did not mix them up.

Such great news to hear! Do you know if we can see a log of all updates done at the 3.0.04.4 version?

I don't think so, and even if the would call it "general quality improvements".

I wonder if there is really any advantage to the jpg though, as it isn't with ProMode dng:

Has the latest One UI 6.1 update (US unlocked number S9226U1UEU1AXCB) released at the beginning of the week, made any additional headway in this regard or is it more marketing fluff?
According to the linked article:
"With a focus on its cameras, Samsung's changelog states it has improved the S24's white balance accuracy and exposure for its cameras.
Low light image quality is another area that is receiving an update today. Samsung threw in a few more camera updates, which include the following:

Nothing in the changelog is about the broken RAW support, so no this remains unchanged.

Hi,
Has anything improved with S25 Ultra and latest camera app with regard to RAW support or is it still the same as was the case in March 2024?

ExpertRaw artifacts have been fixed by Samsung, real raw still is the equivalent of an 8bit jpg, nothing changed in regards to dynamic range. Samsung phones don't do raw.
