Question

AC2 . . . Not Resonding

I am working on a sizeable project and about midway through I got a "program not responding" message. I had numerous text animation built into the project and had not saved them. My question is as with other programs is there a way to "recover" files that have been victims of unplanned shutdowns or the not responding ailment? I hate to have to redo all that I have spent a day on building.

Thanks,

Jeff

    Rick,

I found in AC Help the following, ref. auto save:

    "Auto option
Enable automatic save Select this option to have Adobe Captivate automatically save project files at regular intervals. This can protect your work in case of a system failure.

Save every [#] minutes Specifies a time interval, in minutes, at which Adobe Captivate automatically saves project files."

How do I activate this within AC2, as I cannot find "auto save" in the options folder?

    Hi Jeff

There was an autosave option in version 1. The problem was, it never worked. Oh, it would do something at the interval you specified, but it wasn't saving anything that would recover.

My guess is that the help wasn't updated to reflect the removal of the automatic save option. I know it was present in early builds of the Captivate 2 beta and it even worked! But it disappeared down the road. Not sure why. I can only imagine they found issues with it.

    Cheers... Rick

Hi Jeff and welcome to our community

Unfortunately, your project will likely need rebuilding. Among the things you should consider when working with projects are:

Keep your movies somewhere between 50-65 slides in length. This number varies based on complexity, but most of us here consider 65 to be the rule of thumb for the upper limit.

Don't keep your project on the network drive. Work locally instead.

Sometimes a really long path causes issues. You may see improvements if the path is shortened.

Don't record at full screen. If at all possible, record at a smaller size. Perhaps 640x480 or maybe 800x600

    Cheers... Rick
