Advanced actions vs. Jump to slide.

I am wondering if there is a benefit to issuing advanced actions and keeping text/images on one slide and using advanced actions to have them show/hide over using a jump to slide and having single text/image on each slide.

I find it easier/faster to use jump to slide but if there is a clear benefit to using advanced actions - then I would do that.

Thoughts??

    I don't understand your question quite well. More slides means more frames, bigger file size. Navigation can slow down the course for the user, if the slide they have to jump to is far away.

    Are you talking about the same image for each slide that has to be shown? Or about different images? Which version do you use? If it is CP7 or later definitely recommend replacing the advanced by shared actions. If you are on CP9 have a look at the new states.

    Thanks for your answer.  I am using 9.  I don't have a lot of experience with shared actions but that is a good idea.  I guess the only way to get experience is to use them!  

    I have a tabbed page that highlights different departments in my organization and each tab links to text and an image.  Right now my tabs are jumping to different slides (one slide per dept) but I thought about doing advanced actions as well.   The result for the end user will be the same - with the exception I guess of some potential lag time between slides.

    Can you have a look at my review of Captivate 9: Playing with Captivate 9 - Captivate blog

    I used a shared action on the text bubbles to show a light box, something similar to what you want to show up when clicking on a tab. Everything in this movie is on one slide, used only shared actions, states and one conditional advanced action for the first shape button in the center.
