Question

Automatically rescaling/resizing published content with Captivate 8 for desktop browser?

Is it possible to publish Captivate 8 content (or hack the published content) so that it automatically rescales/resizes to fit whatever size the user's desktop browser window is set at or else forces the browser window which displays the content to open at a specified size to accommodate the content?  I'm publishing the content for SumTotal 8.9 LMS and can't seem to get the SumTotal Content Player window (the popup window which displays the Captivate content) to size appropriately for the content.  The SumTotal Content Player window is too small for the Cap 8 published output, thus causing scroll bars to appear in the window.  Evidently, the the SumTotal Content Player window cannot be adjusted through any SumTotal admin settings.  With Articulate, you can specify that the content fill the browser window, if you wish.  Can any Cap 8 gurus out there please offer any advice on this?  Am trying to get some Captivate content created by an outside vendor to display decently in our LMS.  Thanks!

The size of the LMS player window is usually controlled by settings in the LMS not the e-learning content.

Most LMSs have settings that allow you to configure the height and width of the content launch window.  Are you sure that SumTotal has no ability to specify these dimensions?

So, nothing in Cap 8 that would let me set the size of the browser window or determine whether the content stays locked at the same size or lets learners scaleup or down by adjusting the size of their browser window, as can be achieved by Articulate Presenter, as described at Changing the Browser Settings and Player Size - E-Learning Heroes?  Thanks!

Those settings in Articulate Storyline do not over-ride the LMS player:

Publishing to LMS but player does not zoom when zooming browser - Articulate Storyline Discussions - E-Learning Heroes

Captivate has an option called Scalable HTML Content which allows the content to expand according to the browser window size.

However, the Captivate content running in an LMS player is usually playing inside a frameset, which then allows the LMS SCORM API to 'listen' for calls being made by the content.  So it's like having a window playing INSIDE another window.

So even if you do set it to use Scaled HTML when published, that setting doesn't over-ride the size of the frameset IN WHICH the content is playing.  As far as the content knows, the frameset IS the available space.

I think I may have seen mentioned on this forum that some developers may have found a way to hack the LMS window to go full screen, but I don't have more information about that.  You can try searching for it.

Bottom line is usually that it's the LMSs job to control the overall size of the content window.
