Captivate 8 won't open in Windows 8 network

I'm waiting for IT to rectify this issue. Until then I figured I would ask some users here if they ran into this problem.

Adobe Captivate 8 will not run on my Windows 8 machine. It's running off of a network. Every other Adobe product opens, including the additional apps that came with Adobe. We cleared the cache and addition files (safely and after backing up my work), I was using for our projects. Does anyone have any advice?

I did find a online website that suggested I open Adobe Captivate 8 as an Administrator User. That did not work either. Perhaps it's time for a reinstall?

Thanks for your help.

What does AFAIK stand for?  We reinstalled Captivate 8 and it still does not open on my computer even when I choose Run as Administrator.

Sorry about the acronym, when I'm on a small device I use them more. As Far As I Know.

Did you install again on the network? Maybe you missed my first answer: never install on a networked drive, never having projects nor cache on a networked drive neither.

Captivate 8 is finally running on my computer! We did a uninstall, reboot and clean install.

Captivate should never be installed on a network, but on your system. Both folders in Preferences, General settings should point to folders on your system as well. And indeed, to have all the functionality of Captivate (especially if you want to create software tutorials), you have to Run As Administrator. That is not the same as having Administrator rights.

It's the strangest thing. All my Adobe applications open except Captivate 8.

Do you Run as Administrator? Other Adobe applications do not need same rights because they will not have to 'capture' other applications. AFAIK only Captivate needs to be able to do that.
