Question

Enabling browser full-screen (F11) mode within the training?

Hello folks,

While testing usability with my new 1000x720 pixel template, I now noticed that some learners may encounter scrolling issues... especially with 1024x768 screens and browsers with a lot of tool bars. This is easily remedied by hitting F11 (in IE, Firefox, and Chrome on Windows).

I wish to provide a button to enable/disable the browser full screen  mode or in other words, emulate pressing the F11 key.

Is there a way to do something similar to this in Lectora?

I can do this in:
- HTML...but it works inconsistently across browsers and it only opens  to full screen in a new window.
- ASP.NET...but I expect this will be a problem with security settings  with various learner's browsers.

On a related note, how would I accomplish this on a Mac? What is the F11 equivalent for Safari?

Any thoughts?

I have determined that the best I can do is simply display a message that instructs the learner to press the F11 key (Windows) or Apple key Control F (Mac with Firefox).

Thank you.

Hi Shawn

Did you mean to post this in the Captivate forums? You asked about how to accomplish something in Lectora. So I'm unsure if you meant to type Captivate and mistakenly typed Lectora or if you meant to ask about Lectora and just posted the question in the wrong support forum.

Cheers... Rick

Hello Rick, ever the keen eye. :-)

Actually, I meant Captivate. It is really a problem is either Captivate 4 or Lectora. I posted the same message in the Lectora forum as well... I just forgot to change Lectora to Captivate. Silly me!

Failing any automated process, I guess I could just have a pop up message instructing the learner to press the F11 key.

Any ideas?

Hi Shawn

What you are seeking is something that many JavaScript developers are also seeking. And unfortunately, it's just not simple or easy to accomplish.
