Getting rid of click to continue

Hey everyone, this may be incredibly simple. In my quiz the success caption of "Correct - Click anywhere or press 'y' to continue." pops up (or the incorrect alternative) after each question. I can move this off-stage, but how can I configure it so the user does not need to press anything to go to the next slide? I couldn't find this in the preferences anywhere.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm assuming you are using Captivate 5 or 5.5 since you mention moving things off the stage.  If you set your quiz properties for the question as follows:

Notice the Correct Caption is deselected.  If the question is answered correctly, you will get no success caption, no click anywhere to continue, it will just go to the next slide.

    Hope this helps.

    Mister C,

He wants to see the Success caption And with an incorrect answer there will still be two steps.

That is why I proposed another solution.

Yesterday (I realize this is an old discussion) I launched the AutoSubmit Widget (CP 5, 5.5 and 6). This widget hides the Submit button and adds the submitfunction to the radiobuttons. In this case you can skip one userclick (the one after the click on the radiobutton) and use the 'second' click to continue (after the student has read the feedback). See example and download demoversion on http://www.dorna.nl/?p=1449

Hello and welcome to the forum,

The default behavior in the Question slides is two steps:

    • the user clicks Submit button, and the Success/Failure captions show up, slide stays paused so that the user will be able to read the captions
    • the user clicks on the slide or presses Y when he is ready to move on, then the playhead is released and will continue AND eventually the actions you specify On Success/On Failure (after last attempt) will be executed.

You want only one step? OK, then you'll need some work and have to estimate for each question slide how much time is needed for the user to read the captions:

    • create your own Success/Failure Text captions and set them invisible
    • delete the default Success/Failure captions (Success can be turned off in the Properties panel, Failure you'll have to delete on the slides)
    • add as Success action to show your custom Success caption, and as Failure action to show your custom Failure caption
    • be sure to provide enough time after the pausing point of the question slide so that the user will be able to read the caption

Now, the two steps are reduced to one step: when the user clicks the submit button, the playhead will move on, the actions will be executed showing the text captions but when the end of the slide is reached the next slide will pop up. So, no pausing after clicking the Submit button because you deleted the first step.

    Hi Lilybiri!

I haven't played with my Captivate software for a long time (1 yr 1/2) since I got reassigned to a new job position so everything looks very new to me and all the stuff I've learned from all of you are nowhere to be found now. Anyway, how can I create my own Success/Failure text captions? Does this requires inserting variables? I am using CP6 now. Thank you for your help.

Nevermind I was able to figure it out. This is what I did:

    1. Go to Project --> Advance Action

    2. Choose Standard Action

    3. Create 2 action names, 1 for correct caption and 1 for wrong caption

    4. Under Action use : Show ( Caption Name) and Continue

If I am to create multiple question slides then I have to create 2 action names for each question slides because each slide will create a different text caption name. Is this the correct way of doing it or there is a shortcut?
