Hi,
I've created a glossary using the Glossary widget in Captivate 8. When I preview in HTML5, the widget automatically goes to the upper left hand corner of the screen and is partially cut off, no matter where I have it placed on the slide (right now it is supposed to be centered on the slide). See screenshot below.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I need to publish in HTML5 for my client, so publishing in SWF isn't really an option. I'm using a Mac OS 10.10.2. Thanks for any help or suggestions!
@Lilybiri Please find the working glossary widget from the link mentioned below.
Regards,
Rajeev.

Please check that you have the latest updates installed for Captivate.
Could you please provide me your contact details as a Private message.
I am able to reproduce this issue at my end.
I would like to provide you a new glossary widget and you may try to insert it into your project and check the HTML 5 preview.
Regards,
Rajeev .

@Rajeev, why is it not possible to provide the working version of this

@Rajeev, I was not asking for me (have the correct version of that interaction) but for all the users that post the same complaints, and will post in the future.

Does this widget fix also work for Captivate 7's glossary?

This is only applicable to Captivate 8 glossary widget .

Thanks for the reply. I have gotten the glossary to work in CP7 but it works incorrectly. What it does is allow only every other word in the list to of definitions to be clickable, but those clickable words show the definition of the word before it. And I have experimented with this in different ways to try to get it to function correctly to no avail. We would like to use CP8 for this project but originally our client asked us specifically to develop it CP7. Do you know of any solution to getting the CP7 glossary widget to function correct when published as only HTML 5?
Thanks

RajeevAdobe, thanks so much! I just tested it out and it seems to be working correctly in HTML5.
All the best,
Chantelle

Rajeev, This works great for HTML output, but I see nothing when I publish SWF. Is there another update to fix this? Thanks.

Hi April, you seem to have the opposite problem of what I had experienced with the glossary widget. I could get it to work just fine in SWF format but not in HTML 5 format. I have Captivate 7 not 8. What browser are you testing your published course in? and have you tried viewing it in other browsers?

Hi, thanks for the response. The customer needs it to work in IE and it isn't displaying there, but I just tried it in Chrome and it worked fine. Any ideas?

Problem solved. It was the flash player security that was hanging it up. Once I gave permissions for that folder, it appeared! Thanks Daniel for pointing me in the right direction.

Hello,
Using Cp 8.0.1.242 windows 8.1
I installed the glossary file you provided. However, I'm still having the issue of it loading top left as with the initial post in this thread. The issue happens in FF 39, Chrome 43.0.2 and IE 11.0.96 in my HTML5 preview.
Thanks

Hello,
We have tested the widget and it worked fine. Could you please try the steps mentioned below .
Run the Captivate with administrator rights .
Create a blank new project.
You need to also clean your browser cache and temp files.
Insert the widget on a blank slide and make it right aligned.
Then publish the HTML 5 output.

Rajeev.

Fantastic! Thanks a bunch.
Not to belabor a point, but, should I expect that the widget will display the correct alignment only on a published project and not on an HTML5 preview?
Thanks again,
Peace

You should try to publish the project and check the output. It should work in the preview also but I would suggest you to check the published output also.

Rajeev.

Is there an updated version of this widget? I inherited a Captivate 8 course with the original glossary widget, and I downloaded the version posted here in order to address the display problems in html5. However, I find this newer version also has display problems in html5. The glossary can be seen in Internet Explorer (version 11), although some of the colours are mixed up. It can't be seen at all in Chrome (version 50).
Has anyone else had similar problems, especially with Chrome? The same course uses the scrolling text widget, which is also not behaving as expected in html5.
Thanks,
David

I wonder how you tested? Some of the interactions do have issues when Previewing HTML in Browser, but work fine when the published project is deployed on a web server or a LMS.

Lilybiri, thank you for your response. Perhaps that's an issue. I've just been publishing the course and viewing it locally. Eventually it will go on a web server, so I'll upload a trial version and test there.

Further to my comment, I've now tried playing the course from a server. The Glossary works in IE and Chrome. Some of the colours are different than the selections in the widget, but that's something I can deal with.
The scrolling text widget was better after I deleted the original version and re-inserted it. For some reason it wouldn't scroll all the way to the bottom unless I added some blank lines at the end of the text.

Yes, they can look very different in SWF and HTML output as well. Thanks for reporting back that display on webserver works.

Rajeev, is there a French version of the updated glossary widget for Captivate 8?
It's really the same as the English version, but the word "Search" in the top left would have to be "Recherche".
Please advise.
Thank you,
David

Hi,
This also happens with the word search widget. Is this a known problem for widgets? Will a fix be available in the near future?
