How do you save a custom setting for making demo videos?

Explorer ,

Hello,

I've looked everywhere, including the Adobe Captivate manual for v.8 (haven't seen a new one) and though you can find the window where you can select a custom parameter I can't figure out how to save one, as when you select the "Setting" button in the below left corner of the window, it simply takes you to a possible file location (where you want to default save your demo videos to), not how to save the custom setting.  Thanks anyone for help!

I'm in version 2017 of Captivate.

Which settings? Video Demo only has a resolution to set up. In Preferences you can choose to have 32-bit or 16-bit. What do you want more?

Manual is indeed not updated, Video Demo feature has not changed at all since CP8.

Hi Lilybird,

I’m taking about the screen capture size setting at the point of creation of a demo video. We previously had a certain size screen allows open so that when staff capture a video the red capture frame was always a custom size. Someone modified it and even when I changed it back, the customs size doesn’t remain (as if previously did.)

Hmmm, have no answer ready right away. Did you try to save the Preferences? You are recording a standalone video demo, right? Not from within a cptx-file.

Hi again,

Not stand-alone. We are (usually) recording them from the menu once opening another cptx file. As in, we open a previous cptx file, create the demo video, add it to the cptx file, make other modifications (remove old demo video, etc.) and then save the new cptx file.

I am a bit confused. Why do you not capture immediately in the cptx-file. Use the Slides button it has an option 'Video Dmeo'. The capture size will then automatically be set to the size of the cptx project. You have full editing functionality for that Video Demo sllide.

OK, makes sense (though I don’t understand what you mean by “Slides button”.) I’m not in the app at the moment, so I’ll have to look tomorrow to see if I find it. Also, our version is in French, so if you could put an image of the feature, that would be helpful.

That said, I don’t know why we can’t save a custom screen size as we previously had (in case someone creates the demo video as a stand alone) since the window obviously allows you to set a custom screen size. We never had to reenter a screen size, it always opened to the one we had set (I assume because the browser was set to open at that size and perhaps the Captivate window defaulted to it (even though we hadn’t set up the window to auto open a particular browser app (which is what I’d like to set up.)

I understand French as well, have a French and an English version of CP. Sorry, on this system it is the English version:

Sorry, just now seeing this.  OK, I see where to do this. That said, I went back to make sure I had things clear and I was wrong.  We create .cvpc files not cptx files.  So, this isn't available (unless you can tell me where.)  We take previous cvlc files remove what we don't need and add a demo video via File > Video demonstration.

Also, since the team is used to working a certain way (and they don't do this regularly, nor is the team focused only on doing this task), I'd like to keep them doing it the way they're used to for now.  Again, we previously had a setting fixed for the demo video window and somehow someone changed it so that it always opens really large (the red frame), and I'd like to put back what we had.

Hi again,

I figured it out, but it took a little time.  It's a buggy thing and I discussed it with Adobe.  I had to sort of clear the last saved custom size by setting the capture window to set to an application (browser in our case) > Select radial Custom size > Select Custom > Set the customs dimensions > Click Record and then close out the recorded video (without saving of course) and on next usage and all subsequent usages the custom size is the newly set size.

And it doesn't go directly to application, but screen size,  yet it retails the custom size.

I say all of this in case someone else has this happen to them.  Thanks though for your suggestions, which are worth noting for process changes.
