How to move forward and change answer on survey question (C9)

HI!

Captivate 9  -  Using SCORM 2004, measuring slide views (100%)

I’m using the playbar to advance through the project. I added a survey question mid-way through and another toward the end. Quiz Preferences: Hide Playbar in Quiz so users can’t just push the playbar to the end and get credit. I want users to be able to go back into the content before the survey question if they want to review information, so I made a page following the survey question giving them the choice of going back into the section they’ve just viewed or to go forward.

 ·         If they go back into the content and then proceed forward again (coming to the survey question), the survey question page does not give a way to advance on that 2nd pass or to change their answer since the playbar is hidden. I’d like to make the survey question page active while still containing their answer – so they can change it if they want to.

How to do that? It’s a survey – not a graded quiz. Would a reset wipe out their answer? I don’t know how to do that either.

 ·         If they go forward, but use the playbar to go backward again and run into the survey question page, they cannot go forward again because the playbar is hidden.

I want to use an advanced action to set this all up, but don't know how. A little help, please!

Smiles,  Susann

Use the Submit All feature.

When I use Submit All, I get great Back/Next buttons that allow me that navigational flexibility and I can change my answer when I get to survey again. But - it doesn't stop the playbar at the survey question. I can scrub right past it and all the way to the last slide, which now has no playbar for some reason. I want users to be stopped at both survey questions - so they have "take the course" so to speak, instead of scrubbing to the end to get credit (for slides viewed). Can the playbar be stopped as it does when not using Submit All?

That is one of the reasons I almost never will use a default playbar, but always use custom navigation buttons. That is the only way to give you that amount of control. If you plan HTML output, there is a new widget CpExtra, developed by InfoSemantics that allows you to prevent scrubbing the progress bar. Or you could change the survey to a graded question, which will allow you to check if the question has been taken? You can also use Hide Playbar with the On Enter action of the survey questions, but that will not prevent scrubbing. Did you choose Hide Playbar in Quiz Preferences?
