    Hello,

You do have to insert a widget with the option Insert, Widget, not as a simple animation. Did you insert it as a widget?

Thank you all for your responses.

Budget? Try not to make too many assumptions based on my question. The client is very large and has a vast array of disparate learning pockets. (Main Corporate Library, Several offshoot departmental courses, many LMS's (Yuck!)  OF COURSE, as an ongoing project (with the divisions I work with), we are gradually converting their old Flash Courses to HTML and have been doing so for coming up on 2 years!

As Erik deduced, this is indeed a short term solution I was asked to investigate for a group wanting to take the small step toward at least unifying some of their courses in Captivate (and frameset design improvement, etc.) They currently do not have the budget for us to repurpose all these FLAs into HTML (Not to mention a propriety LMS they are using.) They, too, are fully aware of the Flash "problem".

I am simply trying to test out this particular possibility per their request. With all that said... Why the Playbar Play/Pause button only intermittently works at Pausing and Playing Inserted SWFs is still not entirely clear to me, yet.  Most of the Posts in these forums over the many years do not provide a clear answer or solution. (thus, partly why I'm searching around these old Haunts.).  It may be out there, but I haven't come up with the right Search term....Or....there is no solution.

Again, I value your time, and thank you for you input!

    Sincerely

I haven't used Flash in a long time...

You could try...importing the SWF into a new Flash project.

Setup a playbar for that SWF within that same project.

Publish - being sure the 'loader' playbar swf is in the same directory as the original...

Does that work? The playbar 'loader' swf controlling the original?

If so, then import that loader SWF into the CP project, be sure to keep the paths/relationship the same...

    Hello,

Is this a customized widget or the widget that comes with Captivate you are talking about?

It also helps if you tell which version of Cp you are using?

    Hello,

There are different playbar widgets. Most of them can be customized by checking the buttons you want to choose or to hide. You can do this when inserting the widget, because the dialog box pops up. If you want to change later on, select the widget on the stage and in the Properties panel click on Widget Properties. The dialog box that pops up for the widget Playbar.swf can be seen on this screenshot. If you activate the Play Button, once the movie is playing this buttons will change automatically in a Pause button:
