Importing audio and triggers from powerpoint

I am a beginner at using Captivate and was looking at importing some pre-existing material into e-learning.

I have a PowerPoint show I am trying to import into captivate 9.

My PowerPoint show includes several audio effects as well as animation triggers that do not appear to come across when importing the file.

Is it possible to have the sounds and animation triggers import across, or do I need to recreate them in captivate after importing the file?

You need to recreate them in Captivate.

But since objects in PPT don't get converted into similarly separate slide objects in Captivate, I would suggest you seriously consider forgetting about using the PPT as a starting point and just build from scratch in Captivate. That will give you a lot more freedom and less hassle.

Thanks Rod,

I was hoping to avoid re-creating in captivate as the PowerPoint took quite a lot of development time and the idea of starting from scratch in Captivate is daunting.

Hopefully I'll get some spare time to have a play around and build my confidence in using the program.

It's the age-old story. What sometimes looks like a quick way to do something at first, will often turn out to be much more time-consuming and limiting at the end of the day.

It's good that you are encountering this issue right at the start of your career as an e-learning developer. 'Bite the bullet' now and dive into learning everything you can about Captivate. I assure you the time spent will MORE than pay dividends in the end.
