I have experienced a similar problem.

When captivate publishes smart shapes to HTML, it uses a canvas tag which takes up the entire page. Safari IOS automatically promotes canvas tags to a hardware layer and allocates graphics memory based on the size of the canvas tag. On a retina ipad this means that each smart shape uses ~8MB of graphics memory, even if it's just a 20px square. Once you allocate ~300MB of graphics memory Safari is killed by ios. You can see this problem by inspecting your content in the safari dev tools, have a look at the layers panel. The id of the canvas elements shown in this panel match the layer names in the captivate timeline panel. Which helps for debugging.

Our solution was to stop using smart shapes and replace these with bitmap images. This is pretty crappy. But I'm not sure of any other solution.

I have a similar experience to the one described by xxgreg2, except that it is not the smart shape itself that causes the excessive canvas memory use.

In seems to be anything with a shadow on it and any type of line.

Smart shapes in themselves seem to only create a canvas equal to their bounding rectangle. But put a shadow on it, and it will create a canvas the size of the page.

As a consequence we use shadows very sparingly, or use PNG bitmaps with alpha channel shadow effect, and lines are often replaced with rectangles.

This is very interesting.  I think this might be what causes mine to crash.  Is there any word of Adobe not using the canvas tag so that it works with safari?  Is there a way to "demote" it?  This is a very troubling issue in which I can find very little information.

Is there no answer for my question?

One thing I've found that crashes Safari with almost guaranteed certainty is having a drop shadow applied to the answer text on a multiple choice question. I have no idea why, but after hours and hours of testing different settings I disabled the drop shadows and the crashes stopped. Very perplexing. I still find that iOS Safari will randomly crash more often than Chrome on Android or PC while running an HTML5 course however, so it's entirely possible you've got a different problem. Best of luck!

Hi ,

I will recommend you to test it with few more projects and see if the issue is with the particular project or with your Safari Browser.

Also try to copy and paste all of the slides in a new blank project and then republish and check

Also try to play the output in any other browser.like Chrome and see How it behaves.

Thanks

Himanshu

Thanks for reply

I have check the Project with other browsers ( chrome and Firefox). On PC it works (I have try it on PC with HTML5) but on tablets it doesn´t work.

Are there anywhere Projects available which works on Tablets and make in HTML5? So I can be sure that the Problem is my project?
