Hi everyone,
I'm using Adobe Captivate 8, and even though I have indicated that I want the Jeopardy questions to be included in quiz reporting, they are not. I have assigned a point value but the questions are never calculated into the overall quiz score. Is there a solution to this?
Thanks,
Sheila

Individual questions in a Jeopardy interaction are NOT treated the same way as individual quiz question slides.
Only the entire Jeopardy learning interaction can be assigned a score to report to the quiz, and that's done via the Properties inspector area, NOT from within the Widget Properties dialog of the interaction.
So the only way to get that score is to successfully pass the entire interaction.

That makes sense. However, in this example, I had three quiz questions, and then the Jeopardy question that I made worth 80 points. When I did a test run, I got all 3 questions correct and a score of zero on the Jeopardy question, and at the end my quiz score was shown as 100%. Shouldn't the score of zero on the Jeopardy question result in a lower overall score? It seems that the Jeopardy question isn't being reported into the quiz at all.

Have you verified in the Properties tab > Actions section that the Jeopardy interaction is actually set to report to the quiz?

Another thought: Are you using Points or Percentage to calculate Pass or Fail? Look in Preferences > Quiz > Pass or Fail.

Rod - Yes, I have verified that the Jeopardy action is set to report to the quiz. I have tried using both points and percentage for the pass/fail option but the Jeopardy points still have no impact on the quiz score.
Lily - Are you saying that just by playing the Jeopardy game, students will automatically receive the points value that I have assigned to the Jeopardy interaction? If so, why bother assigning points to this interaction?

I have asked this question many times, but it is the sad truth. If you look at the descriptive table, I included a description of the variables associated with the interactive widgets (sorry, learning interactions). For some games the variable has not even the value of the score at all. There is no link whatsoever between the score that you attach in the Reporting part and the value of that variable. At least not when I tested the last time for that article, and I don't think this has changed. You can show the score to the user (with the variable in a text container), but there is no way to have it added (easily) to the Quiz score. Sad truth. Those interactive widgets behave just like interactive objects: if you click on a shape button that has a score attached to it, that score will be obtained, if you don't click on it, you don't get a score. I hope this clarifies?

You could have a look at my article about interactions: Tips - Learning Interactions - Captivate blog
There is a link to a table that you can download. You'll see that for this game, although the variable stores the total score, there is no link whatsoever with the score you attribute to this game in the Reporting section of this interactive learning interaction. Like most games, the reporting score will be added to the total score, not based on the result of the game but on having played the game whether you passed or not.
