Missing Object State Panel

Hi,

I seem to be missing the Object State Panel in Captivate 2019 (image 1 is what I'm looking for, image 2 is what I see). I have tried a few restarts, cache clears, etc. but nothing changes. Any fixes?

Thanks!

I have no idea what is meant in that Help page at all.

You open the Object State panel either:

    • by clicking State View button in the Properties panel (visible in your second image)
    • by using the Window menu, option State panel.

I have written multiple blog posts about states. If you tell me what you want to do exactly, maybe I can point to the correct post. Here is one of them:

I want to set triggers to move between the different states of an object, i.e., "when clicked, change to state x," etc. I don't see that "actions" button anywhere (equally frustrating because I remember doing all of this in Captivate on a different machine last year, and now I feel like I'm taking crazy pills). Neither regular view nor state view show an actions button, and I don't see any other way to move between states that I've created.

    Blame the Help page...

The Actions tab is only available in the Properties panel for any interactive object or for the slide. You need always an event to trigger any action. Events are: On Enter and On Exit (for slides), On Success and Last Attempt (for interactive objccts). Hyperlinks also are events, but the possible actions list is more limited.

Did you have a look at the blog post for which I provided a link?

If you want to change state for a multistate object which is not on the same slide as the button triggering the action, you need to use an advanced or a shared action.

Have a look at this example, which I presented on the ALS conference in 2021.
