Hello -
I have created Advanced Actions that involve clicking a Smart Shape Button and having a Smart Shape appear with more information about the text in the button. There are 7 Smart Shape Buttons that click and show 7 Smart Shapes with information. This is all working fine.
However, I would like the learner to be able to go back and click on a previous Button and have the correct text show up. But I can only seem to click each button once.
I have played with states and a variety of Advance Actions. Does anyone have some suggestions?
Thanks,
Kris Beisel
Which version do you use?
Can you post a screenshot of the Timeline and of the advancec actions (would have used a shared action myself)?
Are all sonw texts remaining on the screen? If not, why not use one multistate object, with text for each of the buttons and use the command Change State? It has the big advantage that you don't have to hide other text before shwoing new text.

I am relatively new to using Captivate, I took a basic training and then have worked to figure the rest out on my own. I am using Captivate 2017. I work for an educational nonprofit, Destination Imagination, and I work to train our volunteers to provide our educational experience to students around the world.
I am going to try your suggestion of using a multi-state object and the Change State command. That is not an option I had considered. I will let you know if I am successful!
Thank you!

Please, could you post a screenshot of the Timeline? Lot of problems are due to not understanding that Timeline. Have a look at:

Here is a screen shot of the timeline, before I attempt to use your multi-state idea. Thank you for the link to your blog. I will read it next!
The Smart Shapes with the information are stacked on top of each other.

It was not a link to my blog but to a published interactive CP tutorial. All the posts I wrote on the timeline can be found in the portal or my blog: http://blog.lilybiri.com
From what I see in the screenshot, you have indeed issues with the timeline. The shapes on top are not timed for the rest of the slide (CTRL-E) which is also very long which is not necessary in almost all cases, except when you have a long audio clip (there is no clip here) as slide audio.
I see lot of pausing points at 3 different times. Do you understand what happens at those points? Reason why reading the posts about the Timeline could be interesting, and maybe even necessary.
This is another post I wrote about the 3 stumbling blocks for newbies, those are the focus subject to me for any basic Captivate training: Challenges for newbies

Hi!
Your suggestion of multi-state objects worked wonderfully. Thank you!
