Question

non-compliant HTML5 Interactions and Slidelets

Hi Team, we're excited about Adobe Captivate functionality and we've developed a bunch of Interactions and Slidelets for a training module. Unforturnately, none of it works in Chrome/HTML5. We see that IE and Edge will be dropping their support for Flash at the end of 2020. Are there a list of best practices on how to create interactive modules in Captivate that avoid .swf/flash?

Astonished, the death of the Flash Player for all desktop browsers is announced since three years by Adobe itself.

Slidelets are not supported for HTML output. If you are sure that you will only create non-responsive projects and that your learners will only use desktop/laptop you can still use Rollover Caption/Image.

Captivate has a HTML tracker under the Project menu.

For a Fluid Boxes (resposive) project, non-stupported items are dimmed. That is not the case for non-responsive projects because some developers sill use SWF output. If they can force their learners to keep outdated browsers, that is OK.

Which exact version are you using? You find the full version number under Help, About Captivate.

Since the announcement of the future demise of the SWF player I have only published to HTML5. I never have seen a list of 'best practices'. I wonder what type of interactions you have been using, because all Learning Interactions are compatible with HTML output. Moreover you have a Preview HTML in Browser option which lets you see approximately how it will look. However, only when the published output is on a webserver or LMS is it possible to judge all funcitionality, best to test in multiple browsers because HTML i snot standardized, support can be very different.

I prepared a survey for a conference n DC (cancelled). It is about the conversion of CP projects to make them compatible with HTML output. It is not a list, but maybe you'll find some ideas, it is in this blog:

Is there a list somewhere of all of the features that are not HTML5 compliant? We see that some interactions widgets are not HTML5 compliant.

We are suing Adobe Captivate 2019 11.5.1.499. Are the knowledge checks/quiz slides HTML5 compliant? This is a big issue for us.
