Why do slides which are set to "fade" transition revert to "no transition"?

In edit mode, I have set my slides to "fade" transition from slide to slide. When I preview the slides, the fade transition works fine.

However, when I publish the slides, there is no fade (or any kind of) transition.

Any thoughts as to what I am missing?

Hi, I am converting my old Captivate 7 projects to Captivate 2019 that have slide transitions. Since slide transitions are no longer supported, what is another way to create something similar that is supported by HTML5? I am doing software simulations and sometimes have to move around. I use those transitions to create a break/distinction in moments when you only need to show them a portion of a screen/process.

HTML, which I realize is the culprit from Lilybiri's reply. Thank you both for responding - yet another Captivate mystery solved.
