Email Quiz Results Question

I'm using Captivate 4 to create a Quiz with results that are sent via email. I am trying to figure out a way to include the answer of a 'short answer' or 'missing word' quiz question in the results. So far, I've only been able to send Core Data in the email. Does anyone know a way to include NON-Core Data in the results sent via email? The goal is to provide our users with a space to enter their name and have that data sent along with their results to a specific email address. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi J,

I hate to be the bear of bad news but the Email Quiz Results feature is not reliable. Here is  what our Frequently Encountered Issues page states about E-mail reporting.

E-Mail reporting doesn't work in many cases. Unfortunately, there is simply no workaround. The only truly reliable method of passing data is by using a Learning Management System (LMS). Please feel free to report the issue to Adobe as a bug

Has this functionality been improved at all in the last 6 months?

I am hoping to use email reporting for fill in the blank and short answer questions. Ideally the email would show all the text entered into the blank boxes for review. Otherwise what is the point to having open-ended questions on quizzes?

Thanks for any assistance you may be able to provide.

JLando,

I've created a SWF that I insert at the last page (based on my article of creating certificates for Captivate and Presenter at ConnectUsers.com).  The SWF performs an HTTP-POST (or can perform an HTTP-GET) to a server-side script (in my case it was an ASP page) which handles the e-mail capability.  You may need to contact your System Administrators about the type of server-side script supported, if any, and what how it needs to authenticate users, etc.

Regards,

Andrew

Andrew,

Thank you for the help. I did check out ConnectUsers.com and I believe I read through the article you are referring to. Unfortanetly, most of this stuff is over my head. I did forward the info on to our IT/Systems Admin to see if they can help me sort it out.

If not, is there any other solution to get the specific quiz reporting without an LMS? I've seen a widget that will take the quiz results and export it to a Google spreadsheet, but that requires publishing to a web server. Is there any other email option, or way to export to a local spreadsheet of some kind? Or is what you told me what I'm looking for but I'm just not getting it?

Again, thanks for the help,

JLando

Not sure if it will work, but try just having a Text Entry Box and make it scorable, but value of no points. I think you have to select Validate Answer to make it scorable.  But to get around really validating, just have it do the same thing on success or failure.  The 0 points should keep it from affecting the results of the quiz.  Let me know how this goes....I've been meaning to try this for a while now.

Thanks,
