why does verifying app take SOOOOO long?

Participant ,

For every Creative Cloud app I open, there is a tiny window that opens saying "Verifying Name.app" with the app's name filled in and a little progress bar underneath. Sometimes, it gets stuck and never completes verification. Other times, it might take 5 minutes or longer. It appears there are some macOS problems with Catalina versions and app verification, but really, why does it take so long and why does the app appear to have to be re-verified every time it's opened? I'm using macOS 15.15.7. Thanks.

Motiger1, the dialog you are referring to is part Gatekeeper which is a component of macOS.  You can find more information on how to adjust the settings for this feature at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491.

I would recommend reviewing the settings for any installed software firewalls that could be delaying the Gatekeeper process.

Click the link to Apple Support from Jeff and scroll to "Change the app security settings on your Mac"

  1. In System Settings, click Privacy & Security. Then scroll down to Security.

  2. Under "Allow apps downloaded from," select an option: *

    • App Store: Allow only apps that have been downloaded from the App Store

    • App Store and identified developers: Allow apps that have been downloaded from the App Store and from developers identified by Apple.

That link says nothing about why it takes so long for the app to be verified.

I have a lot of software installed on my computer. Can you explain why this only happnes when opening Adobe Creative Cloud applications? I feel that blaming it on an operating system is passing the buck and not an acceptable solution.

set to open as administrator

By @kglad

Open as Administrator for an app is a Windows feature:

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-run-app-administrator-windows-10

In macOS, the closest equivalent is to use a login that has administrator privileges:

it says any delay is because of your computer, not adobe.  again, to circumvent your gatekeeper,

Horrible and attrociaous, that you have to pay so much for software only for it to take forever to start-up to verify itself.
