Box CGIs

Dimensions sounds like a really useful program and certainly for putting artwork on one side of things it creates some stunning CGIs.

However, when you get to a second side things get a bit worthless. So far I've not been able to add a second side to my CGIs of boxes. Is it possible to import your artwork to fully cover the box CGI? Or is this something that as of yet Dimension cannot do? If it's not possible, has anyone found a work around?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Dimension has a limitation of 1 decal per material, so there are some work arounds.  You can apply different materials to the different sides of the boxes then put a decal over each one.  It's not really ideal though and isn't going to be 100% precise.  We're really interested in doing more for this full-wrap box designs.  There's a conversation going on in our feedback portal that might interest you.  We're using that website for ideas/conversations since it's easier to vote/track and give status updates.

Any update on this? I tried the V4 update but it kept crashing so I had to roll back to the last V3 and need to stay there until I get through some projects and have time to try again (can you set Dimension to allow multiple version installs like almost all of the other CC apps?).

Anyway I use Microsoft 3D builder to make a cube and easily cover all 6 sides with art for quick review. It's crap microsoct software but does the most basic thing packaging desingers need. Make shape, make art the size for each side of the shape, apply art to shape and having it snapping to the proper dimensions without having to fiddle around endlessly with the scale and move tools trying to get it to fit accurately...
