When I try and change the email address on my Adobe ID I get this message:  "Your account changes couldn't be saved."   No explanation of why they can't be saved or what action I need to take.    Could you let me know why I can't change my main email address and how to fix this?  Thank you.

Login to your Account from the main Adobe web page. Click Manage Account, you may have to type in your password again.

Click the link in the bar that says Account. From there you should be able to change the Email Address associated with your Adobe ID.

MAKE SURE the new email address is Up and Running because you may get a conformation email to both the old and the new email addresses. In one of them you will need to Confirm this change.

It that fails you could also included an Alternative Email ad

If all that fails then.

I am having the same issue with no solutions!

I have tried to:

Login to your Account from the main Adobe web page. Click Manage Account, you may have to type in your password again.

Click the link in the bar that says Account. From there you should be able to change the Email Address associated with your Adobe ID.

This didn't fix the issue, I guess I will try my luck with Customer Care.

Unfortunately this isn't the correct answer. There is no way of saving the change when putting in anew email address.

And I'm sure it would work for me if I could find the SAVe button. Any ideas where it might be hiding in the attached screen shot?

What browser are you using?

As soon as I start typing in a new email address the Cancel / Save buttons come up at the bottom of the screen. I'm using Chrome.

Could also be your popup and privacy setting are stopping that bar from coming up.

Well it's now solved but hardly satisfactorily. See Chat below. I have had to cancel my subscription to Lightroom and will start again when it expires at the end of the month. Sadly, I could get no better explanation from the Chat than my email was already linked to Adobe. Well of course it would be - how else would I have an Adobe ID?

info: You are now chatting with Kirti.
Please don’t close the chat window or browser tab since it will end our chat session.

Kirti: Hello. Welcome to Adobe Membership Services.

James Buckley: Hello Kerti

info: Your chat transcript will be sent to [moderator edit! No e-mails please] at the end of your chat.

Kirti: Hi James, how are you doing today?

James Buckley: Your file was successfully uploaded.

James Buckley: Well i'm fine and it's hot in the UK but my attempts to change my email login are very cold! I cant find a SAVE button as explained in my first contact.

Kirti: All right, Sure I can help you with that.

Kirti: May I have your phone number to make it easier for us to locate your account the next time you call from this number

James Buckley: It's UK [moderator edit! No phone numbers please]

Kirti: Thank you for the phone number.

Kirti: May I have that email you wish to change.

James Buckley: I currently log in with [moderator edit! No e-mails please].

James Buckley: I would like to use [moderator edit! No e-mails please] now please. The original address can be the back up.

Kirti: James,I would like to inform you that  we can only change the email address which is not linked with adobe.

Kirti: And this email [moderator edit! No e-mails please] is already linked with adobe, so we are not able to change that.

James Buckley: Now I'm really confused Kirti! What happens if I discontinue [moderator edit! No e-mails please]?

Kirti: If you wish I can cancel the subscription under  [moderator edit! No e-mails please] so that you can purchase new subscription under[moderator edit! No e-mails please].

Kirti: Shall I process this for you?

James Buckley: Well I don't want to purchase anything Kirti - simply change my email address from one to the other. I'm puzzled as to where JBPhotos44 is linked to Adobe??

Kirti: James it is already linked with adobe.

James Buckley: Is that because it's my backup email address?

Kirti: James I would like to inform  you that It is separate account .

James Buckley: Oh! Now that is puzzling. As far as I am aware I have only one account - a monthly subscription for Lightroom. That's the one that I believe is linked to[moderator edit! No e-mails please]. I don't pay anything else. So, are you able to change the account for me please?

Kirti: Are we still connected?

Kirti: Do you have any fresh email which is not linked with adobe?

James Buckley: We are. I was asking whether you could change the account for me. I would like my Lightroom account to be [moderator edit! No e-mails please]. Anything else I've got is not obvious to me I'm afraid!

James Buckley: OK. We are crossing each other now. I would like only [moderator edit! No e-mails please] to be my Adobe ID please.

Kirti: James I would like to inform you that [moderator edit! No e-mails please] is already linked with adobe ity has separte account we cant change that .

James Buckley: What if you cancel all my accounts and start again with[moderator edit! No e-mails please]????

Kirti: Yes I already explained you above I will cancel the subscription under [moderator edit! No e-mails please] so that you can purchase new subscription under [moderator edit! No e-mails please].

James Buckley: OK. Let's do that please. I did read what you said but didn't like the word 'purchase' since I already have a subscription! But please go ahead and do that Kirti.

Kirti: Sure.

James Buckley: Thank you. Bye.

Kirti: Ok, I'll go ahead and cancel the subscription.

Kirti: While your cancellation is being processed, I just wanted to let you know that as an Adobe member you have access to several “free” products that you can continue to use even after the cancellation. Our most popular free product is “Spark”. You may refer to https://spark.adobe.com/home/ for more information.

James Buckley: Thank you. Have a good day.

Kirti: I have success canceled your subscription so that you can purchase same subscription on different email.

Kirti: Is there anything else I can help you with?

James Buckley: No thank you. Goodbye.

Kirti: You are welcome.

Kirti: You are going to receive a customer satisfaction survey. I would appreciate it if you fill it out. Thank you, goodbye!

This seams to me the key sentence. You can't change your id-email to an e-mail that is linked to a different Adobe account. Sound ok for me. How would or could Adobe handle this? Merging accounts? Sounds pretty complex for something that's quite rare.

I had the same problem a few years back and one of the forum staff managed to change the email address for me. That is why I have flagged Preran to help out.

Years ago, I did create a new account because I could not change my home country (at that time, Adobe's world was not global, so I could not select my real country.)

Anyhow: I can change the e-mail, but not to an e-mail that has an Adobe account attached. I would probably first need to kill that one. To be clear: the target e-mail is in use by a different account.

This is ridiculous! I know this has nothing to do with Preran, but maybe he can do something about it. I have found him to be most helpful in other such situations.

My apologies for not responding sooner. Since Adobe deleted my account I couldn't log in of course! I have now set up a new account using my backup email address (which is now my main address) and I can log in to the forum.

My old account runs until the end of the month so I will start a new subscription for Lightroom etc at that point using the new email address. Hopefully all will be under control then but it does seem a convoluted way to solve a simple problem that I didn't even know I had!

Many thanks to those who have offered help. Very grateful.
