In order to complete Studio 8 activation, I was asked to provide serial numbers of older version of Dreamweaver and Flash Pro. I did but it won't accept it.

Kindly help to resolve this issue

I am sorry SmileNayera but the only information available is how to activate the titles listed in the document provided by Ned.

Perhaps there was an upgrade program available at some point.  I know that both Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Flash MX 2004 are two versions later than version 8.0.

Other way round, Jeff - MX 2004 is one version earlier.

MX 2004 (version 7) pre-dated Studio 8 (version 8) by two years.

Adobe Creative Suite - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Macromedia Studio MX 2004 Released September 10, 2003, despite its name, it is internally version 7.

Macromedia Studio 8 Released September 13, 2005, Studio 8 was the last version of Macromedia Studio.

I have always found it odd that MX 2004 owners have been provided with non-activation serial numbers by Adobe.

However, Studio 8 owners (later version software) have been left stranded with no non-activation serials and no way to activate their software when they re-install. What do they do?

Thanks for the correction John.  The document referenced is the only activation document which has been available regarding Macromedia.

I believe an upgrade path was offered around the same time period as the acquisition.

SmileNayera re-reviewing your discussion thread you mentioned the serial number not being accepted.  Are you receiving a message that the serial number is invalid or that you are unable to contact the activation server?

Jeff,

When I enter the serial number, I get red cross mark instead of the usual green check and states that the number is invalid.

SmileNayera that would be separate from activation then.  From the description it sounds as if the serial number being inputted is invalid.  You can locate you registered serial numbers under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.   Additional information can be found at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

I'm activating Studio 8 upgrade version and in order to do that I have to provide 2 sets of serial numbers.

The first one for the Studio 8 upgrade is been accepted but when I try to input serial number of an older version it won't accept/recognize it. So the activation failed.

SmileNayera are both serial numbers registered?  You can try entering the older serial number but I don't know if Macromedia serial numbers would be accepted.  You can also contact our support team at Contact Customer Care to verify the second serial number is valid.

Currently activation is the process of contacting Adobe's servers to validate the rights to utilize the Adobe software title.  It may be that Macromedia used the terminology of activation to imply the utilization of the serial number.

Yes both serial numbers are registered.

I did contact Support team and I was told that they don't provide any support for Macromedia and directed me to post my problem in this forum.

I am sorry then SmileNayera.  You may want to ensure that you are installing on a computer environment similar to the time period of Studio 8 being released.   Installing under a modern operating system could lead to unexpected behavior such as what you are currently experiencing.
