How to remove Favorite Folder status from multiple folders (about 100) that were marked at the same time in Lightroom Classic version 8.3.1 Using Windows 10 Pro. The normal way to remove is to right-click the filter bar & select the group of folders that were marked as favorite sources at the same time. But in my case, the large group of folders is not listed. How do I get around this bug?

You have probably just hidden the parent directory:

This did not work! The folders in question have always had their parent folder visible. I tried your suggestion as a test and revealed the parent folders all the way up the folder tree to the 10 TB internal hard drive that the photos are stored on. See an example of my folder structure below. The folders in question that I am unable to remove favorite status from have always had 4 parent folders above them and just in case I revealed at 5th Parent.

It only seems to work where the folders are in a continuous block. Try the 2016 – 01 Jan folder.
Click the first folder (highlight) 03rd ….
Then shift click on the last folder 29th La habra….
When all 8 folders are highlighted try right-click and choose Unmark favorites

I tried your suggestion but Unmark Favorites is not even listed as an option in the right-click menu. The reason is these 8 folders were not marked as favorites at the same time.
There are two problems going on here:
1. When you mark multiple folders at the same time the normal behavior is for that group to be listed in the context menu of the filter bar (located just above the film strip). If you right-click the filter bar you SHOULD get a list of favorite sources. In my case, I had marked approximately 100 folders ALL AT THE SAME TIME and they are no longer listed in the context menu of the filter bar.
2. The second problem is I can not remember the exact folders that I marked as favorites at the same time. I don't even know the exact number of folders. The screenshot above is page one of nine pages. So I have many folders marked that I did not show you. As a workaround for anyone with just a few folders, you can make a new folder with a new name and move your photos into that folder and delete the folder with the unwanted favorite designation and change the name of the new folder back to what it was originally. Just writing that sentence was a pain just imagine actually doing it on around 100 folders.
I am hoping for a solution that is easier.
This problem is a bug and is ongoing. Just a few days ago I selected five folders as a group and was working on the photos. I could right-click on the filter bar and remove them from a favorite source. But one day they just disappeared from the filter bar menu.

I agree it looks like a bug or unusual design with filmstrip options. If you select a batch of favorite folders they should be reflected in the film strip. To the right of the folder names click the pull-down menu icon and try choosing “Remove from favorites”
Folders originally marked in batches are often listed under favorite sources or recent sources and can be selected with a check-mark; then click the pull-down triangle icon to remove the batch – see image below.

As you said, "If you select a batch of favorite folders they should be reflected in the film strip." As I stated in my original post they are not listed therefor I can not unmark them as favorites.

Sorry it’s not working for you. I suspect there is a limit to the number of items shown in the filmstrip context menu. I suggest you report the issue at the feedback forum to bring it to the attention of Adobe engineers.

I believe it is a known issue and has been reported but I will report it again. I am conducting a test regarding the number of items that can be marked at the same time. I am creating dummy folders that are empty giving them the name of the date that I mark them as Favorites. Example: 2019 July 18 #1, 2019 July 18 #2, 2019 July 18 #3, and so forth. Starting with just 10 folders and I will check each day and see how long it takes them to disappear from the filter bar list. As an interesting observation, none of the SMART COLLECTIONS that I have marked as favorites have gone missing.
