Hi in have been using Lightroom 6 for years (many thousands of images....) but have just had to buy a new PC.
I know dowloads are discontinued but I still had the original install files and serial numbers, so I did manage to install it, but when I open it I am asked to register the product.
To do this I have to login to Adobe, which confirms registration, but the newly installed program does not seem to recognise it.... So it always asks for registration when I try to open it and I can't make that stick.
Is it really true that if you are unfortunate enough to need to move to a new PC, that's the end for you as a user of LR6????

Thanks @kglad I stand corrected on the "activation servers". I do know that Adobe support will not reset the activation count (if limit of 2 is reached).

Yesterday I gave it a final go but eventually gave up... Steps:
- uninstalled all Adobe software (all Lightroom versions, everything)
- uninstalled the CC Desktop App
- ran the CC cleaner tool (linked in another post) and cleaned everything
- restarted pc
- downloaded the LR 6 from the web achive (linked in another post)
- went offline
- ran the LR 6 installer
- Result: Lightroom CC 2015.14 release installed... (??)
- tried Offline Activation anyway, same result: "Your request cannot be processed. Try again later."
It baffles me how CC 2015.14 gets installed..

what's the name of the installation file?

try using another browser. using a mobile browswer with wifi disabled is the most likely to succeed, if it's a browser issue.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

No, unfortunately. I cannot launch on the laptop because the programs are not there.

Again, thank you. But I'm confused about the 'product' I should launch. I'm thinking you mean Illustrator or Photoshop or .... Are you meaning the installer for these apps?

good to hear that. what was the problem and solution, for you?

The problem was me. I wasn't sure which was 'installed' computer. The solution was yours! Once I figured it all out, I followed your instructions exactly and it worked just like you said it would. It's not activated yet, had to deactivate on my old laptop first. I'll activate it now but I think it will be fine. Now....these old eyes just need a 24" laptop for the big screen!! LOL! A lot of people really have a hard time with using old software. But it's like an old car. If it works and you're happy, why change? CS6 does everything I need for right now, even tho I"d love all those new features in the subscription products.
Thank you again @kglad! Very much!!!!

Hi,
ii am also one of these ppl who want to stick to that "old" Software i bought years ago.
I have a laptop where I was able to run Lightroom. The second PC with the second installation got lost... my fault.
So I (dumb me) tried as suggested by Adobe, sign off lightroom on my laptop to activate it on my new desktop. I tried using this "offline activation", but it says i already installed it two times. Sadly, if i try to "reactivate" on the old Laptop I also get the nearly same message with this nice little "..you only have 28 days left).
Tried to talk to the adobe ppl using the chat. -> Something like "we totally have abolutely no access to that server anymore" and "too many ppl abused adobe by saying they lost there pc/hardware". Sound funny ( or a lie) as the server is still reachable to tell the installtion it reached a limit but didnt recognize if I deactivate an installation.
So, anyone had luck to do this offline activation recently?

offline activation still works, but that wont' (and nothing else will) circumvent the excess activation count issue. you can try updating the default browser and os of your old computer and see if you can reactivate that previously activated installation, and then deactivate.
