Adobe Photoshop 7.0 illegal?

Hi there, 🙂

I know this has many topics for CS2 not being legal ect, but I just wanted to be very clear,

there is many websites listing Adobe Photoshop 7.0 for download for free with license key saying it is legal? (like webforpc.com, softlay.net and filehippofile.com, softwarebeam.com, samtechnology.org & focdownloads.blogspot.com)

I presume they have there wires crossed?

I know it is super old software, but I actually trained in it years ago, and still does everything I would need.

If not, is it still possible to buy someones old license key and have it transferred into ones name?

I know this is a long shot, but I am a full time non payed religious worker, and just seeing if there is a legal way to get this old software.

As I would only use it for a few jobs in a year, I have no need for the latest software, it is just not tenable. I have tried buying your light photoshops in the past (when I had money) but they just dont have the features of snapshot and layers in the same way, ect.

Though of course I understand, that it was worth thousands back in its day and will prob never be released for free.

Though one thought is, as it is everywhere on the net for free you could release version 7 for free as is, giving such an old version

would force a lot of your current pirated users to use the old version (or admit to themselves they are using pirated software) or upgrade to your paid package.

But I am sure you will just say that you want people to upgraded to the latest package, and no software has ever been released for free.

I did find Photo Pos Pro 3 which is free though so if this is infact not free I will stick with that, as it has a similar feel to photoshop 7.

I am sorry for bringing up such an old topic, and such archaic software at that, but this still does install on windows 10 x64 if your good with computers, I did try installing it and uninstalling it before coming to ask.

So I guess these websites are wrong and the product was never release for free, good to know. Glad I checked. Not for adobe, I spose they don't really care about this as the software is so old so not worth take down notices, but I would feel right using it with out it being legit.

If anyway ever finds out otherwise please let me know.

I will try to track down a old license and have it transfer to my name.

I did already own CS4 package with Photoshop, premiere ect, but I transferred it to a friend.

These days, I only need to edit rarely and the vintage Photoshop 7.0 will suite me just fine, if I can get a legit license!

With Adobe downloads are free; however, licenses are not free. Using unlicensed software is illegal.

PS7 may have been produced before Adobe had online activation set up so it's possible someone has a keygen that can create a key that works with the software but that doesn't make it legal to use, either. In other words, just because Adobe or the software, itself, can't tell a key is created outside of Adobe being paid, doesn't make it legal. It also seems unwise to pay money for a PS7 key because you are likely being scammed.

There is a risk of being caught if you use any other Adobe software on the computer (like the free Adobe Acrobat Reader) with a pirated PS7 installed because you never know what license checks are going on in the background and your PS7 could be disabled or your Adobe ID or computer could get blacklisted, or worse.

Thanks for that, I was just checking if it ever was released for free. As I mentioned I thought they must have there wires crossed.

Thanks for your reply there kglad, but that is simply not the case, I was asking about Photoshop 7, which still runs on Windows 10 x64, if you know how to use computers. Windows is very adapt at running old software for those who know how (even just install in safe mode if nothing else works).

So I would need a legal copy of Photoshop 7 license, does Adobe even register these anymore to be able to transfer the ownership?

I was asking about Photoshop 7, if Adobe has ever released it, as it is currently freely available on the internet as mentioned.

Some people are quite happy with 15 year old software if it still does the job, particularly those who trained in it.

Thats great, looks like they allow for really old licenses to be transferred to, so If I can track one down I am in luck.

I live a religious life these days so gave my whole CS4 adobe suite away 5 years ago, but might ask family to buy me an old PS7.0 licenses if I can find a real one cheap, as there is nothing quite like Photoshop for ease of editing and layering pictures.

Thanks for your help! I just wanted to be clear no one had ever heard it had been released for free.

it's only legal if you have a valid cs2 license that won't activate, Download Adobe Acrobat 7 and Adobe Creative Suite 2 products

p.s. newer os'es aren't compatible with old adobe programs
