Premiere CC 2014 - updated?

Hello,

Our college lab runs Premiere CC 2014 - 2014.0.1 release 8.0.1 (21) build.  The CC updater says it is updated.  A student has premiere pro 2014 - 2014.1 release 8.1.0 (81) build.  The student cannot open up her premiere project in the college lab. Why is that?  They both subscribe.....

The problem is both appear to be updated - yet clearly they are different builds and version numbers.... why the difference and what is the solution.

Doug Michael they are not updated to the same version.  I would recommend you remove and reinstall Premiere Pro CC 2014.  During the time of installation the available updates will then be applied. Are you saying the lower build I should re-install?  That is not good as build 21 is on 70 plus computers..  I have gone through the proper install when we purchased the adobe subscription in August and have seen the page you linked.  I thought the Creative Cloud app was supposed to take care of any updates.

Doug Michael the solution I suggested would resolve the error on an individual level.  I would recommend working with your I.T. department to ensure the proper updates are being deployed.

I would also recommend reviewing the installation log files on the computer where the update has failed to apply.  You can find details on how to locate the installation log file at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.

Sounds good - I am the IT guy.   I will look at the install log and get back to you...  there is no easy fix like deleting a prefs file?  I miss those days...

Hello Jeff,

I took a look at the log files and did not see any obvious errors in the summary... but I could have easily missed something. There are 2 Premiere Pro CC log files created about 20 minutes apart from each other.. Can I attach the log files or send them to you?

Doug Michael you will want to do a search on the words Error and Fatal.  You are welcome to post the relevant portion of the log files to this discussion.  If you can include the surrounding text it should provide a good context of the exact errors you are experiencing.

I did a search on both log files for Premiere...  nothing appeared when I searched for 'Fatal.'  I did get one line when searching for 'error,' here it is;

Doug is that the installation log for the update or for the main product title or the update which fails to apply?  I would recommend contacting our support team directly at Contact Customer Care for direct assistance with reviewing your log files.  You may also have a different support contact point depending upon the membership which your education institution purchased.

Doug, We created a package so students without admin privileges could not update (I'm guessing your might have as well),  thinking we could later apply them as admin at each station or push out just the update. This is how we used to do it with the old CS versions. We'd see when there is a newer version and then apply it. When you create a package that prohibits student updates, the CC icon does not even accurately reveal when updates are available. It says everything is up to date when it isn't.  And although it looks like you have the update abilities from the cloud icon, you don't. I was advised by Adobe support to uninstall the older version and make a new package. I was also told I could not just push out just the update which meant Iosing our prefs and having to go to each station to turn off welcome windows etc.  again. The old deploy tool allowed one to deactivate just students' ability to update whilst retaining admin rights to install them at each station and to see accurate update status. So much for Creative Clouds flexibility and ease of installation and use.
