Problems with installing Adobe Reader

Community Beginner ,
Aug 25, 2014 Aug 25, 2014

Hello,

So the title sorta explain what my problem is.

I am trying to install Adobe Reader on multiple Pcs, but im having some trubble with it.

I am working on getting it to do a silent install, using PowerShell, but no luck.

I also have some trubble installing the .msi installer in the first place.

When im using CMD as administrator, and using the "/passive" command, it just installs and right after it installed uninstall itself.

I have looked all over the web, but I have not been able to find any, so I am currently forced to install Reader on its own, beside the PowerShell script.

What can I do, to fix this problem??

Thank you, on beforehand.

-Cassalc

Sorry for my possibly bad english.

The log shows a 1603 error at the end of the file:

MSI (c) (88:48) [08:48:33:056]: MainEngineThread is returning 1603

It says the installation did fail here:

Danish:

Normally you would install Adobe Reader with a command line like this one:  msiexec.exe /i <path to AcroRead.msi> /qn EULA_ACCEPT=YES

Powershell is a bit different but if the installation is rolling back and removing itself then you need to setup a verbose installation log to find out why it's doing that first.

/L*v [PATH_TO_FOLDER_LOCATION]\acrobat.log

I got the log file, I used the command in Powershell:

.\AdobeReader11000_DK.msi /passive /L*v C:Users\rbk\Desktop\acrobat.log

And I got the file, and I looked a little bit through it, but I got nothing out of it, maybe you can take a look at it??

Hi Sabian,

Thank you for the answer.

After I read trough what you wrote, I then thought about trying to re-download Reader, from Adobes FTP Server, and that seemed to work.

I have tried both normal installing it, and installing it using CMD and the command "/passive" and both worked.

Thank you again, and have a great day.
