To those thinking a serial number is not needed:

I log in to Creative Cloud with my University details.

The University has Creative Cloud for all students and staff.

Here's the screenshot I get, requesting a serial number. There are times when Serial numbers ARE asked for.

Replies to questions ought to be helpful, informed and correct, not from the perspective of those with a limited history (eg: 'We've not had CD installations since 2xxx, therefore we don't acknowledge them as existing')

Hi there, 

As per the screenshot, you are being asked to enter the serial number to activate your Adobe app. You are trying to install the Adobe Creative Cloud 2014 version, which is no longer available or supported by Adobe. 
Your school's subscription gives you access to the latest Creative Cloud apps; please contact the Admin to get the latest versions. For information on how to contact the Admin, please see https://adobe.ly/3CXHRPv;

ie, your admin shouldn't be using adobe's application manager.
