There HAS to be a better way to update Creative Cloud program

Per Adobe support, the Remote Update program DOES NOT update the Creative Cloud program.  The only way to update this is for the users to have local admin rights (we are a school and NOT giving STUDENTS admin rights let alone normal adult users) or create a package every couple of days and push it out.

Are you kidding me right now?  Are we serious?  Adobe is supposed to be a leader (and they charge like it) and this is what we get? Come on.

It's the admin responsibility to manage or update apps if they are not giving students/users admin rights. Unfortunately, there is no other option available to update the creative cloud desktop app apart from creating the update package or update it manually using admin rights.

I think so yes.  I can log into a console to create packages and such. We are a school so I am not sure if its similar but slightly different.

You can check the release notes on how frequently Adobe releases the update and according to that, you can decide whether you would be able to deploy a blank updated package: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/release-note/cc-release-notes.html

That's in my OP.  I should not have to create a new package, even every 2 weeks.  Not to mention we have two buildings which have two licensees so I'd be creating 2 packages every couple of weeks.

Users are not admins, nor should they be.  STUDENTS....KIDS.....undeniably should not be admins.

Adobe should be better than this.

techburner's response is to the admin.

users have no say in how/when the enterprise admin choses to update (or not update).

if you have an issue with how your subscription is working, consult your school's enterprise admin.

Surely, if you don't let users administer (which is the usual thing), then you are accepting that you have to deploy software for the users...? (Why would you have to make 2 packages??)

Because the license is by building.  Our high school and middle school both teach photoshop and they are two buildings.  We cannot use the same license for both buildings per Adobe.

"then you are accepting that you have to deploy software for the users" This is not really acceptable.  They provide the remote tool for admins to run on mass computers to update the programs.  All except the main one that is needed to run any Adobe program.  They think we have time to sit and create packages and push them out all the time?

You can enable "self serve install" and "allow non-admins to install and update apps" option while creating the package and deploy it which will allow the students to manage their apps on their own. There is no need to give any special permission to them on the system level.

You can check the "create managed package" section to get more details: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/enterprise/admin-guide.html/in/enterprise/using/create-nul-packages.ug.ht...

I have checked that when making the packages but the Creative Cloud program still errors when non admins try and update it.  Not other programs like Photoshop but the main CC program.

"It's the admin responsibility to manage or update apps if they are not giving students/users admin rights." If you give users admin rights you are a bad admin, sorry.  In 2020, with a company as large as Adobe this has to be figured out.  Especially given the massive EDU outreach they have.  Who gives 12 year old admin rights to a computer?  Also, being that schools have hundreds of computers to keep updated.  This is poor management on Adobes end.  Plain. And. Simple.

They provide a remote tool for command line updates.  Which is fine and easy to use with the deployment tool we use.  We simply update the variable for the new version number and it rolls out.  But to NOT update the main program as well is unacceptable.  Having to spend 30 minutes every 2 weeks on something you shouldn't have to do is not ok.
