CC Enterprise Install Error 81

Am trying to install CC onto a new laptop, Windows 10.  There are absolutely no Adobe programs of any kind that have ever been installed on the computer and I have even run the Cleaner app to be certain.  On a fresh reboot, with nothing else running and definitely nothing else installing, I continue to get error 81. What could be causing this?

Please restart the computer and try the installation again after making sure that there are no background processes for Microsoft Office or Acrobat running. It looks from the above log file like Microsoft PowerPoint and Acrobat were both running, which can block the installation.

Hi Dominic, thank you for the help - I am trying it right now, and on a fresh reboot it's still giving the error.  Nothing else is running.  PowerPoint is installed but not running - I even temporarily moved the exe files for powerpnt to the desktop to block them from even considering running and it still did not install.  Acrobat is not installed on the computer and never has been.  I have done a search of the hard drive for any instance of any file called acrobat.exe and there is none.

How are you running the installation, exactly? Ideally, the setup.exe should be run from an account with full administrative priviletges.

Does "msconfig" show anything starting at boottime that is not from Microsoft or Adobe? If so, please try disabling it and rebooting.


Yes, I am running as a full administrator.  I've tried disabling everything on startup and restarting, then killing all nonessential processes and tasks.  As this is a pretty new laptop, I've even gone ahead and uninstalled virtually everything but the main software, including Bitdefender internet security.  Virtually all that is left is MS Office 2019, Dropbox (disabled), One Drive (disabled), G Suite Sync (disabled), Drive File Stream (disabled), Chrome, Quickbooks, and KeePass.  Even removed the majority of the Dell/Microsoft bloatware.

 

My IT actually advised me to install from the .msi file, not the setup.exe file.  But neither work.

No replies yet - any help? All the relevant posts around error 81 have to do with renaming PDApp folder, but this folder does not exist on my computer.
