Don’t believe so.

You can change the master page(s) in one of the book documents and then import them into all the other documents at book level. Quite quick, but risky if the master pages may have been tweaked in different parts of the book.

It doesn’t help you much at this stage, but we have started using variables on master pages for e.g. book titles. Much easier (and safer) to move them around between book constituent parts.

Hi

I am using FM 9.0. I tried to change a variable globally thru the book. Though there is an option to change throughout the book, it is not working even for the open documents. Why is it so?

Ananda,

The change to a variable (like essentially all properties) is to a specific document. If you want this variable to propagate throughout the entire book, then you need to import the updated variable(s) from the changed document to the rest of the documents in the book. The .book is just a container that allows you to manipulate a bucnh of files together, otherwise it really doesn't have many special properties.

There is a third-party tool called BookVars from Scott Prentice at Leximation ( http://www.leximation.com/tools/info/bookvars.php ) that might help.

Hello David,

Thanks for the information! I was aware of this method.

I agree with your "risky" assessment!

Regards,

Keith
