Hi...I've been running FrameMaker 6 for years now (specifically FrameMaker+SGML, v6.0p405). Lately when I open a Frame page with a graphic, a Web window open telling me about CorelDraw Grapics Suite updates. This can happen literally dozens of times when paging through a Frame chapter. Anyone know how to get rid of this?
Perhaps you could take a small file, open/save the graphics in another application and see if this supresses any "made with CorelDraw" information that might be lurking in them?
Sorry about delay in responding to your messages, we've had St Patrick's Day here in Ireland and I took some time off. Yes, they are CDR files within Frame. I get an IE window about New Updates, and if I click on Learn More it takes me to the Corel site and wants me to buy the latest update of CorelDraw.
Just on the message from Mr Nielsen, I'm pretty certain there is a quick way to get rid of all this but I just can't think of what I heard some time back.
If you export your CDR to EPS and then use these, there will be no more messages like that.
So the problem must lie within the CorelDRAW Suite. Personally I use CorelDRAW X3 (and all prvious verisions for that matter). The EPS files is the only solid method I recommend. Native CDR files are usually only good inside CorelVentura
How are you inserting the graphics in FM? Do you insert by reference (good) or by copying in (bad)? Or (even more prone to cosmic badness) are you using importing them by doing Object Linking?
Agreed with Thomas, though, that most reliable method for graphics is to convert to EPS (or possibly PDF) first, and then import into FM. That way you're not at the mercy of whatever filters are built into your version of FM.
Well, yes, we are using our prescribed and enforced procedure of File/ Import/ Object. Most of these files I inherit from other writers. They're not getting this. I think the automatic update feature of CorelDraw Graphics Suite 12 is the problem (as the window that opens displays that in the title bar). Can't seem to find out how to turn it off however and absolutely can't remember when I accidentally turned it on. I almost never use Corel.

very good, Thomas, that seemed to get rid of those windows popping up. I removed Corel Graphics Suite from the list of applications to update, I have no idea how it got there. Thanks for everyone for your input.
