How can I change page color in Abode Frame Maker ?

How can I change page background color from grey to white in Abode Frame Maker? I am using Frame Maker versio n 2022.

Hi, when you create a new file with the FrameMaker default template (Portrait) the background colour is white.

Can you test this and post the answer here?

When your background colour is grey, then there is something which causes this.

Is only the background of the main text frame grey? Or the whole page?

If only the main text frame, then go to the master pages view (View | Master Pages). Press CTRL and click on the main text frame and then open the Graphics menu and click Object Properties. Go to Fill and change the colour (e.g. from black to white) and the tint (e.g. from 10 % to 100 %).

If the whole page is grey, then someone has created a graphics frame. Press CTRL and click on this graphics frame (not on any other frame) and then do the same as described above: Open the Graphics menu and click Object Properties. Go to Fill and change the colour (e.g. from black to white) and the tint (e.g. from 10 % to 100 %).

If both suggestions do not fit, I would assume that your monitor brightness is too low.

My recollection from the last time I needed this; FM may have newer ways to do it.

Chances are you'll need a specifc non-Catalog color.

View » Color » Definitions…
Process vs. Spot vs. Tint and CYMK vs. RGB will depend on output workflow targets.
Going below 20% for all primaries may be squirrely at some print shops.
Overprint probably needs to be [Overprint]

Presuming a PDF on-line target, I created a color named [Shady]

View » Master Pages (start with any)
Draw a rectangle, with at least one vertex outside the text frames (so you can select it).
Graphics » Object Properties…
►Dimensions:
Pos: Offset: Top 0, Left 0
Size: [full page dimensions]
►Stroke:
Line width [immaterial]
☐ Pen Pattern (deselect)
►Fill:
Color [Shady]
☑Pattern ■ (solid)
Tint 100%
Overprint: ⦿ Overprint
► Run Around
⦿ Don't Run Around
[Apply]

While still selected, Copy {this object}

Graphics » Arrange…
Send to Back

Copy the rectangle to all needed Master Pages, and send to back

If the background object becomes annoying during authoring (which it will, if the color is similar to any used by FM for text aspects), switch it off in View » Color » Color Views

Expect to use Ctrl-L (screen refresh) a lot, due to FM white backgrounding of new text entered.
