Question

Missing image in first row of each .pdf page...

(I'm working with Adobe FrameMaker 😎

I'm placing images into a table, and for some reason the image in the first row of each page does not appear in the .pdf file I print of the book. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I've tried placing rows above each of the first rows and simply setting the shading so that the cells appear invisible, and it still doesn't work. That makes me think it might not be a table-related thing.

Thanks!

The ones that are currently in there were just "Paste Special"ed in. I also tried importing them as JPEG and then as a Bitmap, which seemed to make no difference.

Beth,

could you post a screenshot of the table situation in FrameMaker (with borders and text symbols visible) and what ends up in the PDF?

This is one of the sections of the table in Frame Maker:

And this is what ends up in the .pdf:

This table extends over three pages, and on every page the first row of the table is missing it's image. Thanks any help you can offer!

Another weird thing...
When I select the first row of the table on each page and press Delete, all of the content and the cells disappear. For every other row, it asks me if I want to remove just the content or if I want to remove the content and the cells.

When I select the first row of the table on each page and press Delete, all of the content and the cells disappear.

That is truly odd. Normally, Frame won't perform an immediate delete unless you are selecting less than an entire row or entire column.

If you had some hidden columns (width re-sized to 0), you could do an immediate delete on the content, but the cells would remain.

Do check, however, that the cells are really disappearing, and not just collapsing in vertical height so that the empty row flows back to the bottom of the previous page.

And it's not likely that it's treating the 2nd and subsequent first rows as continuation header, because then you couldn't select them at all.

I'd be tempted to create a new clean table, and paste the content in, one cell group at a time.

Would you post your system info -- OS/RAM/etc. and version info (FM and

Acrobat, and whether you're using the full version of Acrobat or the

stripped down version shipped with FM?

I'm running version 8.0p266 of FrameMaker.

System Info:

Windows 7 Professional

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67 GHz 2.80 GHz

(That's the information I just took out of my properties - sorry...let me know if you need more info than that)

I'm using the full version of Acrobat

Hmmm, just noticed ...

I'm running version 8.0p266 of FrameMaker.

Windows 7 Professional

64-bit Operating System

I suspect that FM8 is not supported in Win7 or 64-bit Windows (any version).

I also suspect that it works reasonably well in Win7 32-bit, and if not,

then in XP32 Mode of Win 7 (which is available at no cost for Win 7 Pro).

Then there's the question of how you are generating PDFs.

Are you using the PDF tools bundled with FM8, which may

in fact not work in Win7 ...

or are you using a later version of Acrobat[Pro],

hopefully installed AFTER FM8.
