Removing a page number from a title page in FrameMaker 2017 document

Hello,

I have been looking for an answer to this question but haven't found it, yet.

I want the page numbering for my document to start on the second page.

Thanks for any help.

Cheers,

Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth:

The default Left and Right master page elements will repeat on all body pages automatically. To change the look of the right master (i.e., remove the page number from one page) you will need to create a custom master page and assign it to page 1:

  1. View > Master Pages
  2. Insert > Add Master Page
  3. Give it a logical name (i.e., FirstPage or OpeningPage) and copy from Master Page Right. OK
  4. Remove the page number
  5. View > Body Pages
  6. Navigate to body page 1
  7. Format > Page Layout > Master Page Usage and assign the custom master to the current page

I'm back! I wrote up the steps for a past FrameMaker student here that includes a little more background information, and screenshots:

At the bottom of that post, there is a link to a more automated way of assigned master pages that you might want to explore after you get it working.
