Question

Unable to print Ohm symbol in PDF

Using ALT Code 234 I am unable to print symbol for Ohm in FrameMaker. Able to print other codes like Registered mark, copyright, etc.

Want to know if there is any problem with the Adobe FM software or anything else.

Hi wedsady,

Which font do you use? Do you get the Ohm character in other applications like Word? As others said: Does your font have the Ohm character?

When I press ALT+234 I get Û (checked with Calibri, Arial, etc.). From ALT+224 to ALT+252 I get other characters than in the tables. I do not know, if I do anything differently.

Best regards

Sorry Winfried - that was a spammer post there.

… and you have to be sure that the font you use (especially if you have to change font just for the sake of special symbols) can be used in a .pdf.

Windows [Alt]+234 inserts a:
[Ω] U+03A9 GREEK CAPITAL LETTER OMEGA
if the font populates that code point (and most non-legacy fonts do)
For pendantic semantic correctness, what you might have wanted is:
[Ω] U+2126 OHM SIGN
which is less well represented in fonts.

Your system Character Map should provide clues.

Does the font you're using support that glyph? That might be a starting point to investigate.
