Question

Can't export vector image from Fresco

Hello,

I'm having problems exporting a vector illustration from Fresco to illustrator.

When I use the "open a copy" "Illustrator desktop" I'm not receiving the file on my desktop. I have the lastest operating systems on my mac, and my ipad (as of today). I have no problems airdropping between my devices.

When I try to "open a copy" "illustrator iPad", the illustrator ipad app crashes irrespective of whether I choose to import as layers or single image. I have the latest version of Illustrator for the ipad (as of yesterday). Fresco appears to be up to date.

When I export as PDF, then open the file in illustrator on my mac, I seem to lose all layers the image seems to be a bitmap not vectors. Tracing the image, obviously creates only one large black outline.

Am I doing something wrong with my Fresco file?

One complication that could be causing issues is that my licence for Fresco is a personal licence.

My licence for Photoshop, and illustrator are through my educational institution, and use a different email address. Is this causing problems?

Many thanks for your help.

Hello @tyswan.slater,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind checking if your work is synced online (https://adobe.ly/3AKHXJp)? If yes, kindly try logging out of Illustrator and Fresco and then logging back in to see if it helps. If the problem persists, kindly try removing Illustrator and Fresco, restarting your device, and then reinstalling the apps.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Thanks Anubhav for all your suggestions.

I managed to get the file to open in Illustrator for iPad (without crashing) after I deleted all the hidden layers and reduced the complexity of some layers by merging them. But the image still wasn't coming across as layers, but a single image.

I reinstalled both, which unfortunately didn't fix the problem. I do think that the two different adobe IDs were messing with sending to my desktop version of illustrator.

In the end, I merged all clipped layers, and ungrouped everything so all the layers were as simplified as possible. This time when I exported, to Illustrator on the iPad, the layers came across properly. I then I could export to my mac, and everything worked well from there.

Phew! Not ideal, but I now have a usable workflow.

Thanks again,

Cheers,

T.
