I understand your frustration with Adobe's lack of Android compatibility in 2023. It can be disappointing when a widely used software company like Adobe doesn't keep up with the demands of the ever-evolving technology landscape. While I don't have access to real-time information beyond my last update in September 2021, I can suggest a few possible reasons for this situation and potential alternatives:

  1. Technical Challenges: Developing software for Android can be complex due to the wide range of devices, screen sizes, and operating system versions. Adobe might be working on ensuring a seamless experience across the Android ecosystem.

  2. Prioritization: Adobe may be prioritizing other features or platforms based on user demand or business considerations. They may have plans to expand to Android in the future.

  3. Feedback: Providing feedback through official Adobe channels or participating in user forums can help raise awareness about the demand for Android compatibility. Companies often take user feedback into account when making decisions about new features.

  4. Alternatives: In the meantime, consider using alternative software or apps that are available on the Android platform for your specific needs. There are many powerful mobile apps for creative tasks, depending on what you're trying to achieve.

  5. Stay Updated: Keep an eye on Adobe's official announcements and updates. They may release Android compatibility in future versions of their software.

Remember that software development can be a lengthy process, and companies like Adobe often have long-term roadmaps for product development. While it can be frustrating to wait, it's important to give them time to deliver a stable and functional Android-compatible solution.

Thanks for your elaborate speculations. My main point is this: "not a word from Adobe"

Speculations should not be necessary. If they actually care, why don't they just say how it is?

Like "nope, not gonna do it", or "working on it, done next year".

That "UserVoice" is a dead end. Almost 800 votes, lots of angry comments, not a word from Adobe.

Come on Karl, there's heaps of responses to this question.
Our answers won't change no matter how many times different people ask!

Majority of people who respond on the forums are not associated with Adobe so we can't answer that question.

Adobe doesn't announce release dates, so they can't be held accountable for not releasing an app or update on a specific date.

There are many, many different versions of Android app so it's a lot more difficult to create an app for that platform.

I just wanted to create this post to the community to understand or gather insights from the broader community their interests or support for the Fresco application being supported on other platforms, namely Android.

I had been a regular user of the Adobe Sketch and Adobe Draw applications in the past until they were phased out. And the alternative option I'd looked into was the Adobe Fresco app. However, time after time eagerly waiting for it's realease onto the Android platform I just feel like it's a lost cause checking. However - I don't stray, so I aint ever going to IOS. I'll use MS Paint if I have to. I just wanted to post this to show that there is a market for the application to be released onto the Android OS. I also never post on online forums, so this is that one comment that you could call a unicorn.

I guess it would be useful to understand from Adobe if there is a project currently underway on the Fresco platform to support functionality on Android operating systems, and what stage it's currently at, or if there is any development at all towards it's impelmenation. Other responses from Adobe on other community posts indicated that there was something in progress, but the lapse of time between previous comments on forums would indicate that nothing is currently in train.

If there are contractual obligations you have that limit the ability to release onto Android that's completely fine, at least it would be good for the community to be aware...  Or if you just need a Project Manager or someone to assist with getting it implemented onto Android, I'd be happy to assist.

Hi there!
I understand where you're coming from. I am a commited Windows user, and an avid Fresco enthusiast, so I feel like I'm in the same boat. I bought an Ipad so I could use Fresco on the go, I currently use Fresco on the desktop too (something that Mac users cannot enjoy as of now, you can't have everything!). I also use software from other companies (on mobile), that I won't name here.
None of them have solid, stable, professional applications currently running on an Android tablet. I am not saying they are right, I'm just saying there might be a reason. (And yes I know that there are some decent drawing apps on Android as well)
In a way, fresco users who don't want to buy an Ipad can still work on a mobile PC (HP, windows surface etc), and yes they are awfully expensive (In fact I bought an Ipad because it was the cheaper option, one has to cry out loud!).

From what I am gathering - and I don't claim to know the thruth - is that the Android system is comprised on an incredibly heterogen array of devices, with layers of OS/user interface on top of the original android OS, which apparently makes difficult to implement. I assume that it would still be possible if restricted to say Samsung Galaxy Tabs (again expensive) where the interface is relatively stable and known. Actually the biggest Galaxy tab on the market is a Windows run one, so can be used with Fresco. I saw demos online and wow!

Now the real answer will only come from the Adobe devs, and they repeatedly said there was no plan for Android compatibility as of now. Maybe that will change!

It's coming up on 2 years since Fresco was released and we have all been promised that the developers have heard that we want an Android app from answers given by your PR teams. So where is it? There is a large amount of people that dont own Apple products and would like to use their Android tablets to draw with Adobe software that they presumably pay for already. Saying that it is available on Windows or Mac is not the answer at this point.

Unfortunately the majority of people on the forum are users and we have no idea of Adobe's release dates. They tend not to give a specific timeframe that way they are not bound by a date.

Other responses to this question have suggested that it is taking longer for an Android version because there are so many variations of the Android OS. You could of course add your request onto the many threads already existing within the Fresco UserVoice pages, but as previously noted Adobe are well aware of the request and have indicated they are working on it.

My byline use to be "life without Adobe is not worth living".

I am just glad I didn't get the tatoo.

I have had photoshop and most of the Creative Suite since each was invented.

Open to all across platforms it has been the basis of my Graphic design working life.

BUT REALLY...Apple only for Fresco?

It is a bad look for a company who is the go to for a large section of creatives.

Years, no decades of singing your praises and the reward is to be left out of this exceptionally important tool.

I have waited paitently for when you are going back to your Creative Suite for everyone philosophy but going through chats like this it is never going to happen.

Very dissapointing and makes me and many many others who don not drink the cool aid crap that Apple is the only choice for creatives starting to look around.

I notice no one replies to any of these criticism around Fresco's availability so won't hold my breath.

Cheers,

Lyn

Fresco isn't ONLY for Apple and it's not even on all Apple devices,  it's not on Macs as much as I'd love to see it on Macs. It's also available on Windows devices.  It came out first for Apple devices because iPadOS and iOS devices have very similar specifications and 95%+ use the most recent version of the OS. It came out slightly later for Windows devices, because there's more variation in terms of processors,  graphic cards, and capability, so much that there's a list of Window devices that can use it. Android is like the Wild west, there's devices all over the place with wildly different capabilities and using multiple versions of the OS, which even that gets even more skewed because of the versions of the OS that are altered for certain manufacturer's devices.  It's not that they don't want it on Android, they want Fresco in as many hands as possible.  But the more variations make it increasingly more difficult to develop, because as much as they want Fresco in as many hands as possible, they also want to make sure that it works.  If anything, I can see it coming to the Galaxy Tab devices,  but if it ever comes to Android, it's going to be very limited to where it is.  As I told others in the past, if you want it on Android, go to the suggest features thing Adobe has (don't know the link off the top of my head) and suggest it.

They took away the two apps we could use just fine five years ago and still haven't replaced it? This situation is stupid and was avoidable.

Is there any chance Fresco coming to android?

Community Expert
August 31, 2022

There's always a chance,  but it's going to be awhile. It came out for iPadOS first, because most machines are on the current version, and its the same across all devices and they have very similar specs.  Windows came later, because specs of devices vary more and not all machines are currently running the current OS and things are more customizable.  Android is like the wild west. Depending on who is making the device, makers have their own versions of Android and what version is all over the place. I could see a version coming for the Galaxy Tab devices,  but I have no idea.
